You see, and this is what the conservatives want to do to all of our countries in the west. It's lunacy. I bet they wind up with concentration camps and full on genocide with this, and American churches and their corporate friends will *fund it*.

I hope people draw from this that if this is the right's goal, clearly, anything that goes against it is good.

Remember, this is the same country that condones public advertisement (on huge billboards, radio etc.) of witch hunting manuals, DVDs and instructional tapes. The result is that children (mostly girls), elderly and some other adults get brutally mutilated and murdered regularly, by judgment of ordained priests taking part in the 'trial'. Google Nigerian Witch Hunts if you can stomach it. This is one of the most depraved, barbarous, uneducated, willfully ignorant, stupid and violent countries in the world today. Brought to you by good Christian missionaries, who else?

As ever when reading such hateful words I become outraged but should I really, afterall it has ever been thus. If organised religions last a million years they will never accepet gay people. It is about time we should realise this and get on with our lives and just marginalise such people.

My only concern is that 'the church', religion in general what ever it's creed, holds an influence in society far beyond its numbers. It is time to disestablish the Anglican Church in England and Wales from the State, take away their charitable status (and from all religious groups) and let them fend for themselves. May I also point out the fact that it is not only African Bishops who spout this hate, go into any church in the land and you will find these hateful views expressed quiet openly, I know as I have been on the end of such remarks in the past.

It is time to let this go, ignore them and get on with living.

Hate mongers and/or political opportunists like Akinola are actualy the one's who should be sent to prison or some padded cell in a mental institution because they are clearly deranged,delusionaland a threat to civil society and themselves. This man is clueless as to what it means to be a Christian and because of his authoritative position in the church his evil is even more more tracherous because his venemous words instigate hateful violence and less than human behaviour by his followers toward other human beings.

I think this is blown out of proportion. Only the other day, the Rev. Akinola emailed me to tell me that his church had over $50m in it's account, and that if I helped transfer it to a UK account, I could keep 10%. I mean, what a nice man!

Gosh I cannot believe such a vile creature exists. If this utterance had been made by a Roman Catholic Bishop it would have been all over the UK media. It makes Benedict XVI look mild. I must ask why Anglican clergy utterances do not get the coverage even when they are more extreme?

So much ignorance leave me without words. I mean, hypothetically, what would you tell to someone so brutally uneducated? But the problem is not what he doesn’t know, the problem is that that blank space was filled with religion. And that’s what is left.
Oh, Nigeria, how horrible your problems must be to persecute the weakest scapegoat -the gay people and anyone close- hated by Christians and Muslims alike, almost the only thing that they must agree, cause they are almost in permanent Discordia.

Do any of us really believe Rowan Williams will say anything? Of course not. However, should Akinola ever try to step foot in the UK, we must make sure that the Home Office bans him on the same basis that it banned Fred Phelps for identical hate speech. Akinola's views and statements are incompatible with life in the UK and therefore are not in the public interest to allow him to ever set foot on British soil. Now is the time to lobby the Home Office on this. Hate speech under the guise of religion should not be acceptable, ever.
