SMC - you forgot to add to your long list the general level of sleaze amongst Labour MPs that has risen to un-precedented levels under this government. Their continued complete lack of shame or principle was further evidenced this weekend with fresh news about Keith Vaz.

I simply cannot understand the moronic stupidity of those who say thay are going to vote for more of Gordon Brown.

Okay wossname, I’ve lifted the only paragraphs from Cameron’s speech that in any way refer to anything like an apology for anything and maybe you could talk us through how you get from what he said to what you conclude?
I also find it interesting that you’re quite happy to listen to Cameron now when you (mistakenly) believe he’s saying what you want to hear him say, when you’ve happily dismissed all his assurances on how the Tory party has changed for I don’t know how long. You need to try to be a bit more consistent.
Knowing that the country is on the brink of economic collapse people need to be asking how we are going to pay back everything that the government is borrowing, when the advice to us is to REDUCE our credit. Increasing public spending is a recognised method of softening a recession, but this only works when we have something to sell back to the rest of the world to enable us to pay it back. There exists no business sector or sectors in this country that will enable us to do that. The financial sector was the last, and removal of all financial regulation that brought us to where we are. Overseas income and taxation from this sector are massively down and we are now referred to as ‘Casino London’ across the world's financial markets.
Labour are promising the world to us, new roads, new schools, new homes, all manner of new infrastructure, knowing only too well that we cannot afford it and when the Tories come to power there will be no choice but to cut them all back. We will see exactly the same difficult economic choices being made as were necessary after last Labour term in government came to an end.
Every one is always happy to hark back to the Thatcher years and how bad we had it. Whilst I fully agree she made some mistakes, look at the state on the nation when she came to power. You might not remember the seventies, but I do. Growing up in a decade beset with strikes and unrest - postal workers, miners and dustmen, even gravediggers, and almost everyone else. No electricity for a don’t know how many hours a day, shortages on power, the 3 day week, the 2 day week – no one earning money who wasn’t on strike because the factories, offices and shops were closed because on the blackouts. 30 million workdays were lost in 1979 alone from strikes. The unions destroyed successive governments. Inflation peaked at 25 per cent. Britain forced to beg to the IMF for funds to prevent liquidation of the economy.
It is pathetic to see that ministers are now reduced to scaremongering about the BNP and walkabouts on Compton Street to try to cling on to the gay vote. Everyone will suffer as a result of their incompetence, gay and straight, and the fact that they have enacted a bit or European legislation does not make them Dorothy’s best friend, however much the Labour trolls on here try to spin it.

“I take a different view - our banking system is not separate from our economy, it is a reflection of it. The unsustainable debts in our banks are a reflection of unsustainable debts in our households, our companies and our government. But if I'm honest, I have to admit that we - the Conservative Party - didn't see this as early as we could have. I believe we were - and still are - right to focus on fixing our broken society... because unless we get to grips with educational failure, welfare dependency and family breakdown, then not just our quality of life but our standard of living will always be poorer than it could be... as we pay, through higher taxes and bigger government, the costs of social failure.”
“I believe we were right, as we did back in 2006, to warn about rising levels of personal debt. And I believe we were right, as we did at the last election and through to today, to consistently warn about the scale of the Government debt crisis. But do I believe we did enough to warn about the rising levels of corporate debt, banking debt and borrowing from abroad? No. And there are other areas of economic policy where I look back now and think we would have done it differently if we had the time again. For example, while we warned that it was wrong and complacent to claim that boom and bust had been abolished... we based our plans on the hope that economic growth would continue.”
“Successive governments have failed to address the disparities in wealth between North and South and the richest and poorest in our society. And in the last decade, the Labour government abandoned manufacturing - letting it lose over a million jobs - in favour of financial services and housing, both of which are now in crisis. These imbalances - geographical, social and industrial ..... are part of the reason why we're so badly placed to deal with this crisis.”

Im gay and I vote BNP as do many of my LGB friends. The BNP is not homophobic, radical islam is. I have little desire to be stoned because of the ruling of a sharia court!

Comment by Gay BNP Voter

Oh come on we can see through all the I am BNP and gay routine! Just the same as the I am BNP and not a racist routine. It is well known how the BNP flood forums with its disinformation campaigns when challenged.

An excellent article in the Daily Telegraph from Ed Husain (ex-extremist and author of The Islamist), about how the government is ignoring liberal muslims and listening to extremists, on its stupid advisory boards and focus groups. That kind of stupidity will drive loads of people to neo-nazi extremist parties.
Only Hazel Blears in the cabinet has any sense at all. The others are selling this country out, in the name of appeasement - most scandalously, allowing sharia tribunals, and allowing faith schools to indoctrinate children with backward, anti-democratic Saudi-funded wahhabi hate.

Instead of telling people what to think, Mrs Harman should show some spine and take on the Islamofascists.

No, but you'll be quite happy getting your arse kicked up and down the high street by a bunch of knuckle dragging skinheads. Can't see there's much choice in that. And let's just get one thing straight, sharia law will never happen in this country. Just because of a few gobby clerics and scaremongering by the likes of the BNP and some of the press, people run around like headless chickens. It's pathetic. There are around 2 million Muslims in this country as opposed to around 58 million others. Where do you think this great wave of Islamic fervour will come from? Not from the 58 million others, that's for sure.

@ sister Clarence, it doesn't matter what spin you want to put on it, Cameron said the problem reached back decades, under Tory rule. And he's very, very sorry for it. In fact, he's sorrier than a sorry thing, with much wringing of hands. Is he wearing a hair shirt do we know?

It is Labour running this country to the ground that is forcing swathes of the populace to consider solutions outside of the two main political parties. Of far greater concern, surely, should be the threat to gay men with HIV who are dependent on AIDS meds which are funded by the NHS. The way this government has thrown money down the drain, it seems only a matter of time before such social benefits we have always taken for granted slowly dry up. That is why it is more important than ever to prevent HIV infections. OK, HIV may no longer be a killer disease, but that is only because of the advance in the drugs which keep HIVers alive. Despite them costing up to £30k per person each year to fund, the AIDS charities are only interested in preventing stigma, not the spread of the virus itself, and imploring every gay man to get tested thereby boosting the uptake of these meds and putting more strain on ever dwindling health budgets. When unemployment in the UK hits 5+ million and people are being fed in soup kitchens, you can be sure that cuts in NHS funding budgets will be made, that HIV meds will be near the top of the list, they will be severe, and the death rate among HIVers will start to soar again. It ain't rocket science!

In a speech to business owners in Birmingham, he expressed regret that the party had failed to issue adequate warnings over the levels of debt being amassed by businesses and consumers.
I think you’ll find wossname that the main thrust of Cameron’s speech was that they were apologising for not ‘opposing’ Brown as much as they should have done.
I think if you also check more thoroughtly, the ‘seeds’ of this recession were sown by New Labour and no one else. We were coming into a period of boom when the Conservaties last left office and the Conservatives sowed the seeds of economic grown that Labour subsequently capitalised on.
I suspect that you’re also find that David Cameron isn’t sorry for anything that the Tories have done in relation to the ecomony, past or present, but he is just using this as a thinly veiled opportunity to give Gordon Brown another kick in the teeth over Labour’s failing and also to further highligh the fact that Brown has made it clear he is unwilling to apologise for the mess he has got us into. Its not the most sophiosticated political ruse to be honest and I’m abit surprised that anyone has fallen for it.
After eleven years of Labour mis-rule, where they have had countless opportunities to right the wrongs of the country, for Labour ministers or trolls alike to start shifting the blame on to the Tories is laughable. Its about time that people started to be accountable and to take responsibility for their actions.

Kristina, if you are a member of the BNP, and hold the views most often associated with them, why do you have a link to Amnesty International on your website? I don't think the two really go together right well but maybe I'm missing something here and as moam has already stated, the BNP aren't our greatest fans and according to their website, plan to repeal many laws which gives us the rights we are entitled to. Their best mates, the NF and Storm Front can't abide us either.

@White British Voter
If you racist and homophobic morons came to power (something that's never going to happen thankfully) I'd be glad to be thrown out with the other untermenschen.

@Kristina
The BNP staunchly oppose LGBT rights and make no secret of it. Also don't you see a slight irony in the fact that you're an immigrant yourself?

The BNP right wing! The BNP is a realist party.
The Labour Party is left and has opened GB up to everyone.
The Conservative Party introduces BNP politics two years after the BNP.

I am a member of the BNP.
I am transexuell.
I get insulted and threatened from people, (who I know would vote for Labour or the Conservative Parties - or SPD and CDU ... I live in Germany), that are the main stream of the so called "civilised society"

Anthony, it’s nice that a catholic guy like you is on our side. We need friends. But as much as we value the friendship of the occasional catholic or protestant we also recognize that the Nazi pope does have a problem with us and wants to harm us. As do his bishops, archbishops, schools, mothers superior, abbots, newspapers, radio and TV venues, colleges and universities, rapist priests and skin head allies.

I agree with those who think that religious cults, christist and islamist alike are our main enemies.
And I think it's wonderful that twisted sister paytriotically insists on an English share in guilt over the world depression. I just wonder of all those fired workers will be as proud as he is.

In truth the American recession-depression is shutting or slowing down manufacturing over most of globe.

03 02 09 NY Times “The federal government agreed Sunday night to provide an additional $30 billion in taxpayer money to the American International Group and loosen the terms of its huge loan to the insurer, which is preparing to report a $62 billion loss on Monday…” AIG executives spent millions on a weekend party for them selves shortly after they got $130 odd billion last year. Wherever will they celebrate this year? Prison would be nice but watch for it not to happen.

At least 2.7 million factory workers in southern China could lose their jobs as the global economic crisis hits demand for electronics, toys and clothes, according to industry estimates.
03 02 09 NY Time “PARIS — The leaders of the European Union gathered Sunday in Brussels in an emergency summit meeting that seemed to highlight the very worries it was designed to calm: that the world economic crisis has unleashed forces threatening to split Europe into rival camps.”

We’ve lost 4,000,000 jobs in the last few month and the US recession soon to be depression is nothing we’re proud of. Unfortunately the looter rich of the US ruling class are 99.9999% responsible. But if twisted sister wants his .0001% he can have it and bash Labour with it till the cows come home. Because he’ll hijack and thread, make any outrageous claim to vomit some Tory drivel.

And today, Tory leader Cameron apologises for the recession, the seeds of which were sown decades ago, so lets have no more of this arrant nonsense about how it's solely the fault of Labour from the Tory apologists on here. thatcher legacy, you all must be so proud.

I think the phrase the pot calling the kettle black should be used. When a large number of MP's are unashamedly homophobic and transphobic. Time and again we are denied the full rights we deserve. The BNP are an irrelevance as they are unelectable but the views held by individual MP's and councillors discriminate against us every day. Just look at what the Tories did to the funding of a LGBT homeless project in Brighton.

All Harman is doing is spinning the hate.

Most normal people have had enough of hearing about the activities of homosexuals, lesbians and other deviants. There's nothing respectable about supporting these perversions, and Harman looks a fool pretending there is - let's hope the BNP can force them back into the closet, where they belong.
