The LGBT Cancer Project–Out With Cancer at http://www.outwithcancer.com and http://www.lgbtcancer.com and is a long time advocate for Lesbian screening for HPV. Cancer screenings should not be limited. We simply won't know the extent of HPV among Lesbians until our community is fully screened.

Lesbians are just as likely to get cervical cancer as straight women – is there any evidence available to back this assertion as it seems highly unlikely. Cervical cancer is overwelmingly caused by the HPV virus which I believe comes from a man's penis, so it is largely a sexually transmitted disease, with some other contributing factors.

I think this article massively overstates. Fair enough, if lesbians have slept with men they should think about gettin a smear, but trying to to imply that a lesbian who has never slept with a man is as likely to get cervical cancer as an actively heterosexual woman is just patronising, and false.

Local surgeries should hold focus groups where lesbians can come in & educate them!! I would certainly oblige as I am out to my doctor. I'd happily go round other surgeries in my city too.
