Christianity isn't a vile, bigotted belief system – unfortunately, a lot of its adherents are vile bigots, and want to make it one. It wouldn't be acceptable to most people on this site for someone to make a negative blanket comment on the LGBT lifestyle, so why do we feel we can do it to other groups? For the record, I'm a Christian transsexual, and have encountered a lot of decent, accepting, understanding Christians – they don't hate me because of what I am, and I don't turn on them if they simply say they don't agree with it – to not agree with or approve of something is a universal human right. It doesn't make someone vile, bigotted or motivated by hate. It takes more than that.

They were urged to ignore the Pride but are they ignoring it? No, on the contrary! They have now sent a joint letter to the Riga City Council demanding that the Pride march be banned. So, I'm afraid you haven't yet lived to see the day when a single church isn't trying to stop progress and human rights!
