Correction, Nitzan Horovitz is not the firt openly gay Member of Knesset (MK). The first one was Uzi Even who served in Israel's fifteenth Knesset (the current one is the eighteenth).

We have just as many religious nutjobs in the UK, almost all of them in the C of E and of course the other Roman cult which is why we don't even allow gay couples to marry either. What kind of a crazy cult is the C of E that allows its clergy to form civil partnerships but they're not supposed to have sex? How screwed up and perverse is that just like its Roman cousin that doesn't mind someone being gay as long as they don't do anything about it. Its beyond sick. Look at Spain, one of the most fiercely catholic countries and yet it managed to bypass the cultists and get full marriage equality legislation passed. During dictator Franco's rule, gay Spaniards were given electric shock treatment to stamp out their orientation, among other forms of torture. So, don't underestimate Israel, it could well surprise us, long before we'll ever be allowed to marry in the UK.

A note to the staff writer of the article. You're confusing the readership. A civil union or partnership bill is NOT a marriage bill at all.

Too many religious crazies in Israel for that to ever go through. Good that he's making the effort but the cancer of religion in that country will severely hinder its progress.

Dont waste your time! Israelis are only interested in war and electing right-wing thugs into their parliament! Any decent left-wing civilised person would be moving to Europe where you can vote Green and live in a better society and get married in many countries.
