Nigerian Legislators are so ignorant of the fact and I am not surprise that the result was the blatant lies at the UN Review, this is despeakable, Nigerian legislators failed in many ways to recognised the existence of LGBT people in the country, they chose to close their eyes, many a times that we have been presents at meetings at almost every level of government hearing and decision making, if anything at all the Minister of Justice certainly is not informed by the media, nor his administrators, for many years there has been issues of LGBT in the Nigerian media, since May 2008 alone, House Of Rainbow Metropolitan Community Church Lagos Nigeria, a church I founded was constantly mentioned in the news paper and other media outlet, we also granted interviews nationally and internationally on our mission to include LGBT people, we grew in number and across the nation, there are other groups in Nigeria that also formed part a Coaliton of LGBT organisations in the country, there has even been a survey on sexual diversity, there are enough evidence that we exist. if we dont then why is the mad rush to alienate and pass laws to criminalise, since August 2007, 18 men are still awaiting trial for being homosexual in the Northern Sharia law state of Bauchi.

How can such ignorance rise to such authority in Nigeria? Does Ojo Madueke live in Nigeria?! Does he live in Abuja or Lagos?! He needs to resign in disgrace of Human Rights and countless LGBT citizens in Nigeria. He should also READ more, such as http://www.globalgayz.com/nigeria-news07-08.html where he will find over 60 news articles (on three pages) about gays in Nigeria.

Maybe because of the following two reasons:
a) They have either left the country due to the intolerant attitudes and persecution directed against them
b) They are afraid to be known due to the intolerant attitudes and persecution directed against them

In either case a similar argument the Nazi state would have used had they not lost the war – "there is no Jewish problem – because there are no Jews". How convenient.

Dear Ojo Madueke, if at all possible can you please get your fellow Nigerian's to stop sending me so many bloody emails asking me to help them move millions of dollars out of the Central Bank which I understand from the emails is located on Ali Baba Street next to the Parliament Building? No, I wont be giving them my bank details, and no, I dont believe you when you say there are no homosexuals who need rights or anything else in your country 'cos you don't have gays in Nigeria. If you were to tell me that you are a part of one of the most corrupt Governments known to man in one of the most corrupted countries in the world I would be inclined to believe you. However, as it appears that you and your Government have as much credibility as a Berni Maddof retirement investment plan, your comments about gays have been consigned to the the "talking out of his arse" from a "nasty piece of work" representing a Government that probably all should be in jail, and given enough time might well be box situated next to the bins. PS.Don't forget to help with the no more emails ref: moving zillions out of Nigeria if possible will you, ok?

How convenient for Nigeria *rolls eyes* If there is no minority then it's far harder to protest when you're being discriminated against:

"If they are an amorphous group, then the question of violence against them does not arise let alone negotiating special rights for them."

It's disingenuous to say the least – if not downright dishonest. It reminds me of the 'we don't have any gays in Iran' bloke.

I've been there, sure their "not visible" but they are there, apart from which Nigeria has far more problems that a few gay people, the place is riddled with corruption and poverty, nothing like a distracting gay to take peoples mind off the grinding squalor and religious hatred endemic across the country.
