A new cartoon that lampoons both gay life and homophobic Christians has been viewed by nearly 70,000 people on website YouTube.

The Sesame Street-inspired video was posted by a collective of UK-based creatives under the name The Gay Alphabet.

"Right wing groups and the church argue that the very existence of gay publications and groups effectively advertise, glamorise and recruit people into the gay lifestyle," the group said.

"They see it as 'recruitment propaganda'.

"Which is of course rubbish.

"This is an art project that explores what a recruitment campaign might look like."

The group said Gay Alphabet poster charts will be coming soon.
