		<description>This whole thing was a cruel joke.  I know governmental entities vary with what they are required to offer, but private employers in the U.S. decide for themselves to whom they extend health benefits, and they are not required to cover any sort of dependents. It has nothing to do with marriage.  They don&#039;t even have to extend health benefits to the employees themselves, but most do or else they would not get quality employees.  Most people don&#039;t know this.  They think health benefits with marriage is an automatic, regulated thing.
