I was spat at myself at Pride in Belfast in 2007 when I challenged a man for telling his six year old son that all gay people where perverts. People might think that Northern Ireland's days of prejudice are behind them, but I can tell you from personal experience that they have just been directed in a new direction. Homophobic attacks and attacks on women are rising at an alaming rate, and we have openly homophobic politicians serving in 'our' government. The 'Trouble's' for some may be past, but for many, many others, they are still definately with us. He's not the first, nor the last to be spat at in Belfast.
