The gay "Limbs in the Loch Killer" William Beggs has had his application for bail pending a full hearing of his appeal against his conviction thrown out by a Scottish court.

Beggs,42, known as the "Limbs in the Loch Killer," was jailed for life in 2001. He drugged, raped and murdered 18 year-old Barry Wallace before dumping his head in the sea and his limbs and torso into Loch Lomond. He escaped to Amsterdam where he eventually surrendered to police.

Judge Lord Eassie yesterday refused to grant bail to Beffs during a hearing at Edinburgh's High Court.

Beggs's lawyers argued that the murderer had nine grounds for appeal to be argued before the Court of Criminal Appeal later this year.

Earlier this year, PinkNews.co.uk reported that Beggs had been granted permission to marry his gay paedophile lover behind bars. However, the prison service would not let them to share a cell.

The Scottish Executive confirmed to PinkNews.co.uk that there are no legal bars to prisoners registering a civil partnership.
