Yet again this idea that being gay is a sickness that can be cured. I think that it is about time that LGBT people should pick a date on the calender, and have it as International Phone in Gay Day. "I'm sorry I won't be coming in to work today, I'm phoning in gay" watch how important services, government and businesses struggle without us lol

Niki – further independant studies of those who have submitted to ex-gay ministries show a high level of psychological trama resulting from the cognative dissonance inflicted during 'therapy'. They can't function as straight people but they do function pretty well as screwed up neurotics, some of whom resort to suicide.
I'm not saying no-one gay has ever turned straight, even Kinsey conceded that point. The reverse is also true.
Unfortunately for ex-gay ministries, gayness for the majority isn't a function that can be turned on and off like a switch when it suits the individual, and no amount of prayer changes that. You may go through the motions of being straight, but you still stare at the guy in the calvins commercial (or the girl in the wonderbra ad if you're female).

Rob Fox, that is a very intriguing idea you got there. I'm not a Christian, but I would like to more about this "mistake" Jesus made.

Also, I bet the ex-gay guy's a bad singer anyway.

It's chiefly conservative religionists (that is, primarily Evangelical and Roman Catholic, plus some orthodox Jews)who are behind the "Ex-gay" campaigns.

The conservative Christian systems of mind control operate chiefly through dissociation and fear.

It IS possible to dissociate desires that are perceived as unwanted, but only for a limited period of time, and at the expense of the personality as a whole. It's kind of temporary psychic fragmentation. Sooner or later, the dissociated desires will return – sometimes with a vengeance!

In the meantime, sadly, a spouse and children may have become involved also as the "collateral damage" of this quackery.

Of course, it is possible that a bisexual person may simply choose to ignore their homoerotic attractions and focus exclusively on the opposite sex, but there are, to my knowledge, NO persuasive cases of a homosexual person truly changing their orientation.

On the contrary, the damage caused by the attempt, and subsequent failure, is predictably devastating…

1) Italy hasn't competed in the Eurovision since 1997, therefore, I doubt that I will be seeing this Muppet on my TV screen in May

2) I must call Mr. Nicolosi to ask what is the gay lifestyle. I am very confused.

3) Would not be surprised if it was revealed that the Catholic Church has it's hand in this.

The video refers to the song "Vorrei avere il becco" (I wish I have the beak) which was awarded winner of the Sanremo Music Festival in 2005. Music and lyrics of the song "Luca Was Gay" will be revealed at the beginning of the festival the 24th of February.

The anecdotal evidence coming through from the backwash of the "Ex-Gay" movement suggests that not only does the quack remedy not work, but that the spiritual, psychological and relational devastation left in its wake leaves many worse off than before…

I can testify from personal experience, however, that there IS a cure for Christinsanity…

It's called "getting an adequate theological education"!

The majority of academic scholars of the Historical Jesus believe that Jesus of Nazareth was an apocalyptic preacher whose proclamation of the imminent arrival of God's Kingdom was mistaken.

Former Baptist minister Clayton Sullivan put it this way: "Jesus' kingdom preaching was predicated on a mistake. His fervent belief that a magnificent kingdom, primarily for Jews, would appear on Earth within his listeners' lifetime was an error, an illusion, an unfulfilled hope."

The "Apostles of Christ" were mistaken, wrong, deluded about the imminent, 1st century arrival of the Kingdom of God.

Just as wrong as any 19th century End-of-Days crackpot sect or cult who wrongly predicted the Apocalypse back then too.

What we can know about the Historical Jesus simply does not allow us to sustain the untenable idealization of him that Christianity demands.

The matter of God's existence is, of course, an altogether separate issue…

Seeing as the Eurovision is traditionally a gay constituency, I can only hope he gets booed off stage. I can't think of a more inappropriate song for the Eurovision. On the plus side, maybe this will end the UK's stay at the bottom of the scoreboard!
