Oh yes, let's not impose our values on other cultures, no, not ever. If we see other cultures committing genocide, we certainly shouldn't stop them. That'd be imposing our values on them.

Individual Sexual preference is decided by Allah at the time of fertilization in the womb of mother. It is decided by the God what sexual preference he/she will have in their life. It is not decided by the country's law. The stupid sheria law is based on stoneage culture. Today's science gives all evidence about homosexuality. It is a human right issue. Every nation is responsible to protect individuals sexual preference. I strongly say it was a cowardly act and no broad minded people will appreciate such a beheading crime.

We'll probably never know if it was rape or not. I haven’t seen anything from IGLA or DIRELAND about it yet. What we do know for sure is that cult infested governments influenced by reactionary jewish, islamic and christer cults use false charges, trumped up ‘evidence’ and fast sentencing without appeal to murder and torture GLBT folks, trade unionists, women and people in countries whose oil or land, in the case of Palestine, they want to steal.

The US condones anti-GLBT activity and that won’t change under the Obama Administration. Saudi Arabia's “royal” government is a quisling regime broadly controlled by 'suggestions' of the US government and occupied by US troops. After the US and England are forced out of the Middle East it won’t last long.

for the people who are saying these guys got what they deserved, well you're very ignorant of what goes on in these countries. the govt SAYS that gay men are rapists so that they can execute them for being gay. sometimes they claim the gay men raped a male child and call them pedophiles. now, if these countries were serious about rape in general, why would a female rape victim need 4 adult male witnesses to prove that she's been raped? and when she can't produce them, she is often tried and convicted for 'adultery'. punishments include getting lashed hundreds or thousands of times, no one survives that by the way, plus she often faces execution, either by stoning after being buried to her neck, or by being hanged from a crane on a street corner. all this is public information, complete with pictures and video, and easily findable to people who are not into being ignorant and arrogant and stupid like some of the knee-jerk commentors here.

Is there really less rape, or is there just a much less likelihood of the (male) rapist being charged, or convicted, and the (almost invariably female) victim being blamed for the crime, and punished with lashing, or even murdered by stoning?

What about forced "marriages"? Women sometimes find themselves as one of up to four wives in Islamic countries. Is that not a form of (ongoing) rape?

No, folks, it isn't racist to point out that grotesque, inhumane, public judicial murders like those committed under Islamic Sharia law – with appalling regularity – are nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the barbaric mediaeval patriachal cult called Islam.

Whether or not the victims of the beheading were guilty of rape or not the fact that they were executed is evidence of the brutal savagery of the Saudi regime. Any country which uses the death penalty should have a mark of shame on it. Especially when the country is a democracy (hello USA). And I don't think saying 'Saudi culture is conservative so this happens'. Regardless of whether they committed crimes or not these 2 men have been murdered by their state.

I'm a little bit tired of people using "culture" as an excuse for human rights abuses. Many muslim countries use this and say "western" values like in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights don't apply to their nation, "women are property", "gay men are deviants", etc., etc. It's total crap! Death penalty for any crime has to be ended, everywhere. What consenting adults do in their bedrooms has to be decriminalized, everywhere. No exceptions. These are not "western" values, they are (decent-)human values.

If these men were guilty of rape, they should have been put in prison. I personally have a hard time believing a nation like Saudi Arabia on this issue, as often it is probably just to have an excuse to kill a coupla poofs. It's like believing US or Australian governments about who is a terrorist. What sane person would listen when they've falsely accused so many.

Was quite sure about the relevance of connecting rape with the execution of gays in Saudi Arabia either.

I'm not a huge fan of imposing our values on other people and other cultures as it works on the assumption that our ways are always the right ways.

Saudi Arabia has a very different culture from that of the West and penalties, whatever the crime, as usually more severe. I imagine there is a good deal less rape in Saudi than there is in this country. They're probably also a lot less likely to be smashing beer glasses in each others faces coming kicking out time on a Friday night come to think of it.

Protests?
Against the Saudis for exercising their right to address the crime of rape in their own country with their own laws?
Perhaps I'm missing something here, but I understood that the two men had raped somebody, and were therefore liable under the laws of their country.
They knew the risks and still committed the crime.

It's not too long ago since capital punishment was legal in UK as well.
