In other words, they can and do abuse their GLBTI employees without fear of prosecution. Further, the actual anti-discrimination legislation sets such a high threshold test that it makes it virtually impossible for any GLBTI person who has been subjected to discrimination, harassment or vilification to successfully bring a course of action against any perpetrator. That the Federal Government recently appointed two well-known homophobes to become national 'men's health ambassadors' gives some indication of just how backward Australia is when it comes to human rights for GLBTI people.
