Police fear crystal meth is set to replace heroin as the public's most used drug, after recipes for the substance were found on several websites.The internet sites included ingredients such as painkillers and iodine that can be purchased in any supermarket.

Gay hate crimes bill fails
A change in the law that would have added homosexuality to federal laws regarding hate crime has been abandoned.The bill, being pushed by Senator Ted Kennedy, had to be dropped after Republicans threatened to block a more high profile sex offender bill and blame it on him and gay activists.

AIDs charity calls for improvement in sex education
To mark National Condom Week, the National AIDS Trust is calling for urgent improvements in the education of young people about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and about the use of condoms.An Ipsos MORI survey, commissioned by the National AIDS Trust, found that a quarter of young people aged 15-24 years stop using condoms when they or their partner is on the pill.

Legal group fights for gay benefits in New York

Congress member signs bill against Pentagon’s gay policy
California Democratic Representative, Susan Davis has signed on as a co-sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, a bill to repeal the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" ban on lesbian, gay and bisexual service members.Ms Davis, whose district includes parts of San Diego, became the 115th Member of Congress to co-sponsor the legislation.
