10:49 AM — A Christian 'conversion therapist' may be struck off this week after telling a gay undercover reporter that she could turn him straight. Lesley Pilkington, 60, told gay journalist Patrick Strudwick that his homosexuality was a "mental illness" and she could help him overcome it.

5:25 PM — Portia DeGeneres says her struggle with her sexuality contributed to years of suffering with eating disorders. The former Ally McBeal star, now married to talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres, revealed that she didn't know of any lesbian actresses to look up to.
Canadian province still lists homosexuality as a mental illness 23
4:49 PM — The Canadian province of Alberta still classifies homosexuality as a mental disorder, government records show. Between 1995 and 2004, doctors cited the diagnostic code more than 1,750 times when billing the province for treating gays and lesbians, the Vabcouver Sun reports.

Researchers ‘cure’ man of HIV with stem cell transplant 9
1:25 PM — German researchers believe they have cured a man of HIV by using a stem cell transplant. Timothy Ray Brown, 42, was also being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia - a cancer of the immune system. Three and a half years later, he apparently shows no sign of either disease.

10:39 AM — A porn actor who contracted HIV while filming has called for condoms to be made compulsory across the adult film industry. Derrick Burts, 24, tested positive for HIV in October after starring in US gay and straight porn films.

5:29 PM — Brighton MPs Simon Kirby and Caroline Lucas have welcomed the Department of Health's decision to support a cross-party policy document on HIV prevention. The Halve It campaign aims to cut estimated undiagnosed HIV infections in half by 2015.

5:43 PM — The ban on out gay soldiers in the US military may contribute to the spread of sexually-transmitted disease, a doctor has claimed. Dr Kenneth Katz, an STD specialist in San Diego County's Health and Human Services Agency, said that soldiers could not be honest with medical staff about their sexual histories.

11:34 AM — Katie Price has apologised after she posted false allegations on Twitter about a showbiz editor having HIV and another writer having "crabs". Price said she "accidentally" reposted messages which were sent to her by fans. She made the blunder yesterday, one day after World AIDS Day.

8:14 PM — An NHS trust has been criticised for temporarily stopping treatment referrals for transgender people. NHS West Kent is also ceasing referrals for gastric band surgery and couples seeking IVF but trans campaigners say people with these conditions do not have a high suicide rate, unlike trans people waiting for treatment.
Tory MP takes HIV test for World AIDS Day 7
7:51 PM — A Conservative MP had a 15-minute HIV test at a parliamentary reception on Tuesday evening to encourage more people to take up testing. Simon Kirby, the Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown, has a constituency with one of the largest estimates of HIV-positive gay and bisexual men.
Mercury ‘turns birds gay’ 12
3:02 PM — Consuming high doses of the chemical mercury makes some birds appear to turn gay, scientists say. It is known that mercury reduces breeding rates in white ibises but scientists in Florida and Sri Lanka were surprised to discover that the higher the dose given to male birds, the more likely they were to try to mate with another male.
