1:44 PM — Welsh rugby team have issued an undisclosed fine to the 21-year-old wing for describing a Big Brother contestant as a "faggot". The player has apologised for the statement, saying he had "learnt the hard way to think before tweeting".

Amaechi, who was the first openly gay NBA player, spoke out after receiving the Order of the British Empire for services to sport and the voluntary sector from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

3:56 PM — Graeme Obree, the cycling champion who came out earlier this year, has warned other gay sportsmen and women not to follow his example. The 45-year-old athlete, known as the Flying Scotsman, revealed in January that he is gay and said he had twice to kill himself over his struggle to accept his sexual orientation.

Ben Cohen says father’s murder spurred him to speak out on bullying 13

Speaking at London Pride on Saturday, where he joined the parade, Cohen said his father was killed when he stepped in to protect a man who was being beaten.
