Gay star reveals suicide attempt
12:00 AM — Gay actor Stephen Fry will reveal his struggle with depression and suicide contemplation in a new BBC documentary highlighting the condition later this year.The screen and stage star, presenting BBC2's The Secret Life of A Manic Depressive, will recount the time he walked out on the West End play Cell Mates in 1995 and sat in his car considering whether to turn on the ignition and kill himself with the exhaust fumes.

12:00 AM — The Californian jury hearing the lawsuit between Michael Jackson and his former business partner, Marc Schaffel, decided that Jackson would pay Schaffel $700,000.Schaffel, who was sacked after the pop star found out about his former work as a gay porn director, had originally filed a lawsuit for breach of contract against Jackson for the $3.8 million that he claimed the singer owed him.

Brighton venue issues apology over homophobic performer 7
12:00 AM — A music venue in Brighton has apologised to the LGBT community for booking a notoriously homophobic Jamaican rap artist.The Concorde 2 live music venue, which is situated near the 'gay village' in Brighton's Kemp Town area, cancelled the gig by Buju Banton on 5th July. Initially, the club was unrepentant and admitted only cancelling the concert after pressure from Brighton and Hove Council and the LGBT community.

HIV awareness concert cancelled following protests 3
12:00 AM — A concert to raise awayness of HIV and AIDs due to take place next week has been cancelled after protests relating to the homophobic lyrics of two of the performers.The gig, due to have been held in New York was to feature Jamaican reggae acts Beenie Man and TOK sparked protests from black LGBT campaigners outraged at the inclusion of the two acts.

Bloggers protest at homophobic line-up
12:00 AM — A group of black gay and lesbian campaigners have launched a campaign against a concert organiser's decision to allow reggae artists whose songs include homophobic lyrics to perform at an upcoming HIV/AIDs awareness concert.Bloggers from the US black gay community are protesting against scheduled performances by Beenie Man and TOK, calling on the HIV awareness group, LIFEbeat, organisers of the event on July 18 2006 in New York, to change the line-up.
