London’s festival of Black Pride announced
3:25 PM — Outburst UK has revealed details of a Black Pride Festival to take place in London later this month.The official launch party will take place on Saturday 25th August at the Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall, starting at midday.There will be 16 performers at the event, including X Factor finalist Rowetta Satchell. Other highlights include a fashion show, DJs and the chance to win a trip to Jamaica.

In March he accidentally revealed on air that his male friend's partner was in fact the Aussie heartthrob.
Organisers hope for a trouble-free Tallinn Pride
11:45 AM — The co-ordinator of Tallinn Pride has shared her hopes that this Saturday's parade will be a peaceful event.The parade will be the finale of a week of events celebrating the LGBT community in the Estonian capital and there are expectations that around 500 people will march.Last year's parade was marred by violence. 15 people were injured after being attacked by groups of skinheads with sticks and stones.

Floods force Gloucester Pride to cancel march
5:18 PM — Major changes have been made to Gloucester Pride due to the devastation caused by the recent floods.The event, due to take place on Saturday, will still go ahead but will be significantly scaled down.The floods have been the worst experienced in Britain for over 50 years and are estimated to have caused more than £2 billion worth of damage.

4:35 PM — Broadcaster Channel 4 has hit back at allegations from West Midlands police that they distorted the truth in documentary that showed Muslim preachers calling for homosexuals to be killed.The Dispatches programme, broadcast on January, showed undercover footage of preacher Abu Usamah calling for gay people to be executed."If I were to call homosexuals perverted, dirty, filthy dogs who should be murdered, that's my freedom of speech, isn't it?" he told followers.

Hackers attack gay gamers website
2:41 PM — An anonymous homophobe knocked GayGamer.net offline over the weekend after flooding the site with threatening emails and death threats.The site's owner Flynn de Marco told fellow gaming site Kotaku.com that small waves of denial of service attacks had started on Wednesday morning, causing occasional timeouts on the site.GayGamer.net is the internet's only gay news-gathering games site. By Friday afternoon the site was able to block the IP adresses where the attacks seemed to be coming from.

4:08 PM — A leading US gay organisation has revealed its assessment of the current state of LGBT representation on American network TV and singled out ABC as the best-performing network.The Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) released its inaugural GLAAD Network Responsibility Index, a first-of-its-kind report that maps the quantity, quality and diversity of images of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people on network television.ABC, with shows such as Brothers Sisters and Ugly Betty, received the highest ranking of the five networks.

Stonewall goes to the Eisteddfod
3:30 PM — Gay equality organisation Stonewall will be attending the annual celebration of Welsh traditional music, language and culture, the National Eisteddfod of Wales.Tackling homophobic hate crime in Wales is the key theme to Stonewall Cymru's fifth annual Eisteddfod meeting.Speakers from North Wales Police, Crown Prosecution Service and Victim Support will highlight positive work that is being undertaken to tackle homophobic hate crime.

Gay film award launched at Venice Film Festival
3:00 PM — The world's oldest celebration of cinema moves into the 21st century this year with the announcement that for the first time there will be a gay award.The Venice Film Festival, which was first held in 1932, has approved The Queer Lion award after four years of negotiations.The award will go to a feature-length film in the competition, or any of the 35 or so 'sidebar'screenings, that has a gay character or theme.
Derry icon painted pink for Pride
11:58 AM — Free Derry Corner has gone pink to celebrate the first Pride festival in Derry for five years.The gable wall was painted pink on Friday, and Northern Ireland's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness will launch at Foyle Pride Week at Free Derry Corner today."This is a gift to Pride from the Gasyard Feile and it is brilliant," said David McCartney of the Rainbow Project, speaking to the Belfast Telegraph.
