12:00 AM — A gay Canadian political leader is starring in a political parody of gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain, with US President George Bush and Canadian premier Stephen Harper in the lead roles.The sketch, featuring Andre Boisclair, leader of Pari Quebecois, a party seeking independence for the Quebec region in Canada, has already prompted outrage in political circles.It features actors with the heads of Mr Bush and Mr Harper superimposed, fooling around inside a tent.
Tartan Army tackled on homophobia
12:00 AM — Supporters of the Scotland international team may face prosecution for homophobic chanting, according to reports.Tartan Army fans are the subject of a police investigation after complaints of anti-gay abuse being sung by fans, including one chant questioning the sexuality of English football pundit Jimmy Hill.Spectators could be banned from grounds under anti-bigotry laws, The Scotsman reports.

12:00 AM — Award-winning broadcaster GaydarRadio is marking World AIDS Day today with a fund-raising outside broadcast special at selected venues across London which aims to boost charity coffers, stop the spread of HIV and help end prejudice.The red ribbon digital radiothon opened with Breakfast@Balans in the heart of London's Soho from 7am to 11am and then moves to the premier gay pub Comptons from 11am to 6pm.

Outgames suffer deficit 1
12:00 AM — While plans to hold the 2009 Outgames are underway, the news is in about the most recent event in Montreal, and financially, it doesn't look good.There has always been a comparison between the World Outgames event and the Gay Games, and this year the Outgames did outdo the Gay Games in at least one way, by ending with the highest deficit for a multi-sport LGBT event in history.
Gay charity success at National Volunteer Awards
12:00 AM — A leading London LGBT hate crime charity has won an award for its success in the voluntary IT sector.Lenna Cumberbatch from Galop, which is the Capital's largest gay charity for victims of hate crime, scored runner up for Best IT Volunteer 2006 for her work developing Galop's office computer infrastructure over the last two years.

Lesbian film wins Chinese Oscar
12:00 AM — A Hong Kong actress picked up an award for a lesbian film at the Chinese Oscars last weekend in Taiwan.Nikki Shie won the best supporting actress prize at the 43rd Golden Horse Awards for the film "Reflections," which documents a lesbian relationship that goes wrong.The ceremony applauds Chinese language movies and gives recognition to Asian actors, actresses, directors, composers and writers.
US soap introduces Trans character 1
12:00 AM — An American soap is set to introduce what is thought to be the serial drama world's first transgender character.The character will appear on ABC's All My Children, in a storyline about a gender transition from a man to a woman.There have been other post-op transgender characters in US soaps but this storyline is believed to be the first time the start of the process will be followed.

Gay talent shines at Emmy Awards
12:00 AM — Last night's International Emmy Awards were dominated by British and gay orientated talent.Gay comedian Matt Lucas picked up an award along with co-star David Walliams for Little Britain, and lesbian drama Sugar Rush picked up an accolade.Little Britain won the Best Comedy Award while Sugar Rush, which won Broadcast of the Year at the UK Stonewall Awards earlier this month, won Best Children and Young People's Programme.
