London Pride parade route unveiled
5:45 PM — This year's London Pride parade will return to the city's shopping hub, it has been announced.There will be hundreds of events taking place under the banner of this year's Pride Festival from 15th to 30th June 2007.Pride will culminate on the last day of June with a parade through the West End of London, followed by a party in Trafalgar Square.
Cleaning ladies Joan Rivers and Tracey Emin raise £13,000 1
2:24 PM — The Terrence Higgins Trust has raised £320,000 for people affected by HIV and AIDS by auctioning off the cleaning skills of unlikely maids Tracey Emin and Joan Rivers.At the Lighthouse Gala Auction last night a bidder paid £13,000 for Emin and Rivers to don marigolds and clean his house.Another paid £5,500 to go dog-walking with Geri Haliwell.
Cyndi shows her true colours in support of gays 1
12:28 PM — Eighties songstress and gay icon Cyndi Lauper is to headline a 15-city tour across America in support of LGBT rights.The True Colours tour will also feature legendary artists such as Debbie Harry and The Dresden Dolls, along with newer bands such as The Gossip.The idea of the tour was conceived by Lauper as a way of giving back to the gay community.

5:50 PM — The BBC confirmed today that it has received complaints from viewers after presenter Patrick Kielty called a Comic Relief Does Fame Academy contestant "a big gayer."MediaGuardian reports that TV watchdog Ofcom has also received complaints from viewers who thought the Irish presenter's comment was homophobic.DJ Colin Murray had tears in his eyes after performing on the charity programme.

12:25 PM — Sounds stupid, but just when you thought you could get a week or two off from the SuperBowl, which ended over a month ago, now there are new allegations about the "gayness" of the sporting event.The US Federal Communications Commission received about 150 complaints regarding the SuperBowl broadcast on CBS last month.Most of the complaints revolved around the idea that the broadcast was promoting homosexuality.
Jerusalem gays want June pride parade
11:54 AM — Police in the Israeli city of Jerusalem have said they are reviewing a request to allow a gay pride event this summer.Last year, the parade had to be cancelled. Members of gay organisation Open House held a series of other pride events, which prompted rioting from ultra-Orthodox Jews.The events of last summer were overshadowed by Israel's decision to attack Lebanon.

5:07 PM — Beth Ditto's band The Gossip have signed to Sony's new gay music label.Music With A Twist is a subsidiary of Sony Music Label Group/Columbia Records, and is designed to "identify and develop lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gendered artists".The lesbian icon's band's hit single "Standing in the Way of Control" will appear on the label's compilation album entitled Twist Revolutions , due for release on 17th April.

4:48 PM — A Spanish region is to encourage the use of its native language by funding a film maker's "women-friendly erotic films."The government of Catalonia has awarded a £10,000 grant to Conrad Son, a local who claims his films are artistic but not pornographic.Officials in the north-eastern Spanish region have deemed the erotic films useful in spreading the Catalan language.
DVD focuses on older gay and lesbian voices
12:09 PM — Age Concern has released a film version of the Clare Summerskill play Gateway to Heaven , based on the memories of older lesbians and gay men.The DVD portrays gays and lesbians in 1940s Soho club culture as well as experiences of Greenham Common and the Spare Rib collective of the 1970s.Playwright Clare Summerskill based the original piece on transcripts of interviews with 26 older lesbians and gay men.

11:21 AM — The 40% of gay and lesbian community who smoke are being encouraged to kick the habit on this year's No Smoking Day next Wednesday.Two million smokers are expected to try to get off the cigarettes on March 14th.With a ban on smoking in bars and other public places coming into force at the start of July, anti-smoking organisations are confident that record numbers will try to rid themselves of the habit in 2007.

He was 71.Mr Inman's portrayal of Mr Humphries in the popular BBC comedy Are You Being Served, made him a household name.He died this morning in St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London.
