Gay sports event comes to England
4:27 PM — The gay sports movement is sweeping the world, and in the tradition of the Pride Games, which have taken place in Manchester and Calgary, North East England is welcoming an event of their own: The 2007 Gaymes.The event promises to be the one of the biggest sports day events to hit the small seaport town.Nikki Ward, who is a volunteer at Hart Gables, which is a support group for the LGBT community in the area, initially thought up the event.
Gay French rugby clubs unite as World Cup nears
4:27 PM — France's network of gay rugby clubs are closing ranks to challenge homophobic sentiment on and off the pitch as the World Cup gears up to its first match.French gay rugby clubs game relatively late to the game, sometime after the UK, South Africa and Australia started the trend, but they are intent on making up lost ground."It always surprises people when at the beginning of a match we introduce ourselves as a gay team, but once on the pitch, we earn the other side's respect," Christophe Solignac, trainer for the "Melee Alpine" (Alpine Scrum) team in Grenoble in the French Alps told AFP.

11:34 AM — The broadcasting watchdog has heavily criticised two homophobic outbursts broadcast on talk radio station Talksport - both of them from presenters.Ofcom said that a bizarre series of comments from Mike Mendoza in May comparing gay people to paedophiles were highly offensive.The radio station said that Mendoza had been suspended for a week after the incident.

11:27 AM — One in four women would consider having sex with another woman according to a new online survey of the nation's female sex lives.Ninety-one per cent of the women questioned described themselves as either heterosexual or straight in the survey, but 26 per cent admitted that they would consider having sex with a women, or that they had fantasised about it.Of more than 200 women questioned in the survey, conducted by lesbian personals site GaydarGirls.com, seven per cent admitted they had had sex with another woman.
