12:00 AM — Boy George has begun his five days of community service in New York saying "I just want to do my job."The former Culture Club frontman appeared decked out in street sweepers orange vest to report for the first of five days work with the city's Department of Sanitation to undergo an "exercise in humiliation or in humility."
Gay radio station hits airwaves with pride
12:00 AM — A lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) radio station has hit the airwaves in Manchester, coinciding with the city's pride festival this weekend.The organisers of "Gaydio" intend for the station to have its first broadcast this week and to go on for a fortnight.

Paparazzi Whore leave Marrakech Express over homophobia 57
12:00 AM — New band Paparazzi Whore have cancelled their headline gig at Pacha Marrakech this September due to concerns by the band over the treatment of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals in Morocco.Paparazzi Whore were originally due to play at the 'A Small World' party on 2 September, but cancelled due to what Micci, the bands lead singer, has identified as 'suppression' of individual choice by state law.

UK Black Pride Festival set for Southend next weekend 1
12:00 AM — The first UK Black Pride (UKBP) festival will be held on Saturday 19th August at the seaside resort of Southend-on-Sea.Organisers hope the festival will become an annual summer event. It aims to foster pride, empowerment and a positive presence for black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the UK.

Synchronised swimming not for gays
12:00 AM — A gay synchronised swimming team has been banned from performing at an international meet, as the International Olympic Committee continues to insist that the sport is for females only.The ten men and four women squad from the San Francisco Tsunami Swim Club had been invited to perform a routine at the FINA Masters in Stamford, California this week. Local organisers knew that the male team would not be able to compete organised a demonstration of their routine.
Belfast Pride attracts thousands despite protests
12:00 AM — An estimated 6,500 people came out to celebrate 'Belfast Pride' on Saturday, despite some classic Irish weather and traditional Christian demonstrations.The parade, held every year since 1991, has received public funding to create a spectacle for the city.

Gay Swimmer breaks world record at Outgames 1
12:00 AM — A world record in swimming was broken last week at the 1st World Outgames in Montréal's Olympic Pool, when openly gay American swimmer Daniel Veatch set a new record time in the 200 m backstroke in the 40-44 age category.Veatch, who lives in San Francisco, logged in a time of 2:14.83, edging out the previous record of 2:15.49 set in 1999 by another American swimmer, William Speicht.
Cardiff to host gay motor show
12:00 AM — Cardiff's lesbian and gay Mardi Gras will have an extra element of va va voom next month with the launch of the TopGayer Motor show.It will be hosting the world's first gay car show on Saturday 2 September in Sophia Gardens, Wales.The event is organised by TS Media and TopGayer.com, Rich Tuckwell, co founder of the organisations, said: "We've been talking about the idea of holding a gay motor show since we launched TopGayer at last years Cardiff Mardi Gras. We sponsored last years Mardi Gras and had the Welsh launch of TopGayer at the event.

Glasgow gay festival gets cash boost
