    The magazine praises the UK for its anti-homophobia campaigns, and claims the German football authorities could learn from our example.

    10:48 AM — Two stars of the German football league have given in-depth interviews to a magazine about life as a gay man in the top flight of soccer - on condition that their identities were kept secret.RUND magazine spent two years gaining the trust of the players and researching homophobia in the beautiful game.Just like the UK, there are no out gay professional footballers in the German leagues.

    12:09 PM — Lesbian pin up Jenny Shimizu has revealed that she was having sexual relationships with popstar Madonna and actress Angelina Jolie at the same time.Shimizu is best known as one of the faces of CK One. She was voted sexiest woman in a 2005 poll for The Pink Paper. Angelina Jolie has spoken publicly about their relationship, and is open about her bisexuality.

  • Queer as Folk actor wins Soapstar Superstar 57

    Cotton gave a breakthrough performance in the classic series  Queer as Folk,   in the role of camp scene-bunny Alexander.

    10:02 AM — Antony Cotton has won the singing competition Soapstar Superstar. The 31-year-old, who currently stars in Coronation Street, beat Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon in a live final over the weekend.His prize was a £200,000 donation to the Elton John Aids Foundation.

    Gyllenhall's performance was a tribute to the huge gay following he has built up since his starring role in  Brokeback Mountain.

    9:32 AM — Jake Gyllenhall has showcased his versatility as a performer by donning a floor-length gown and singing a camp classic on American TV.The 26-year-old, who impressed gay movie fans with his sensitive portrayal of gay love in 1960s cowboy country in Brokeback Mountain, was a guest host on Saturday Night Live at the weekend.

    4:23 PM — BBC Television Centre, the iconic West London building that for 50 years has been the embodiment of the Corporation in the eyes of viewers, may close as part of a cost-cutting exercise.The BBC's desire to move production of children's programming, sport and other departments to Manchester could sound the death knell for the Wood Green studios.Corporation bosses are considering closing Television Centre and selling the 13-acre site.

    11:06 AM — Penelope Cruz has reacted to speculation that her close relationship with fellow actress Salma Hayek is more than just platonic.During an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, the Spanish film star, who used to be romantically involved with Tom Cruise, spoke about reports of a gay relationship with Hayek.Rumours had been fuelled by a raunchy photoshoot the two actresses did for US magazine Interview.

    9:44 AM — Interior designers Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan are to become civil partners. The Channel Five stars revealed their plans to LondonLite newspaper yesterday.The duo have become household names with programmes like Million Pound Property Experiment and How Not To Decorate. Justin, 38, revealed that they plan to have the ceremony in March.

    George Michael pleads not guilty

    2006 was a bad year for the former Wham! front man, who came out of the closet in 1998 after being arrested in Los Angeles for cottaging.

    3:41 PM — Pop icon George Michael's lawyer has entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of being unfit to drive at Brent Magistrates Court in north west London.The singer, who recently completed a sell-out European tour, was not in court. A further hearing has been set for 7th March.The charge arises from an incident last October.

    11:18 AM — Pop icon George Michael will face charges of being unfit to drive today, following an incident last October when he was found by police in his car in Cricklewood, north London, allegedly passed out.It is not thought that Michael, 43, will appear in person before magistrates in Brent north west London, and his lawyers are expected to enter a plea in his absence.

    11:05 AM — Eve Salvail has confirmed in a TV interview that she is a lesbian. Speaking on the talk show of fellow supermodel Tyra Banks, the 33-year-old has up until now refused to discuss her sexuality in public.The Canadian model is famous for shaving her head, the first supermodel to do so. She was one of the top models of the 1990s and appeared as herself in the late Robert Altman's movie about the fashion industry, Pret A Porter.

    10:30 AM — Pop star Cheryl Cole has hit out at football supporters and others who have questioned the sexuality of her husband Ashley.The Girls Aloud singer also revealed that Cole is accosted by strangers in the street asking him if he is gay, and that the speculation about her partner upsets her.The 23-year-old was known as Cheryl Tweedy until her marriage to the Chelsea player last year.

    3:51 PM — Actor and gay rights activist Alan Cumming 'married' his boyfriend of two years in a ceremony in London yesterday.His new civil partner is American illustrator Grant Shaffer. Guests at the ceremony included folk singer Rufus Wainwright and actress Mary-Elizabeth Mastrantonio.E! Online reports that Cumming wore a black shirt and tie with an oatmeal-coloured linen suit, which Shaffer a black striped suit with a shirt and tie.

    1:44 PM — Foul-mouthed footballer-turned-chef Gordon Ramsay has come bottom of a poll of 5,000 gay men and lesbians asked to name a gay icon.The swaggeringly heterosexual Ramsay, a former Scotland international, has a minority appeal to some gay men.Australian singer Kylie Minogue came first in the survey, conducted by market research company OnePoll.com

    11:33 AM — London Frontrunners, the gay and lesbian running club, will present a one-off special performance of its pantomime Cinders and the Panto Pride Run on 21 January 2007 at the Black Cap in Camden, in aid of Stonewall.The show was first seen at Clapham's The Two Brewers in December.The pantomime's writers, Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper, told PinkNews.co.uk "There are so many fairytales. But there aren't any gay ones yet - the coming out story is the closest we have. So we thought about creating our own."

  • Prison Break star quashes gay rumours

    He has become something of a gay icon as a result of his role in the homo-erotically charged prison drama.

    11:11 AM — The star of hit TV show Prison Break has responded to rumours he is gay.Wentworth Miller has built up a huge following in the gay community after coming to prominence playing the role of Michael Scofield.Miller, who was born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, is quoted by WENN as stating, "No, I'm not gay. I know these rumours are out there...I'm cool with the fact that they exist, I mean this is about fantasy."
