3:23 PM — Teen soap Hollyoaks' gay storyline has been a hit with viewers, but one of the actors involved has spoken about his concerns at the plotline.Craig Dean, played by Guy Burnet, has been coming to terms with his homosexuality after falling for friend John Paul McQueen, played by James Hutton. The Craig Dean character is leaving the show later this month.In an interview with Digital Spy, Burnet said that he argued against his seemingly-heterosexual character coming out.

London host to celebration of open relationships

Hep C sufferer Anita Roddick dies of brain haemorrhage
7:30 PM — The founder of Body Shop, Dame Anita Roddick, has died as a result of "a major brain haemorrhage" at the age of 64.She died at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex where here husband, Gordon, and daughters Sam and Justine were all with her. Roddick, who built a retail empire while taking an ethical approach to business, revealed she contracted the Hepatitis C virus and suffered from liver damage in February 2007.

Sean Penn to play murdered gay politician
2:01 PM — A much-anticipated biopic of Harvey Milk, the first prominent American political figure to be out of the closet, will star Sean Penn.Two Hollywood directors are to make biopics of Milk and Penn is to star in the Gus Van Sant version. They will start shooting in San Francisco in December.X-Men director Bryan Singer is to make his own Milk movie in collaboration with The Usual Suspects writer Christopher McQuarrie.
Gay judge gets daytime show
10:35 AM — Syndicated courtroom TV programmes become a little more diverse starting this week's premiere of Judge David Young, the first courtroom show with an openly gay sitting judge.The half-hour show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and has been picked up by stations in most major markets.While Sony has made no secret of Young's sexual orientation, they are distinguishing the quick-witted judge as "confrontational, caring and always entertaining" and as a man "known for his fierce intelligence and occasional bursts into show tunes."

Last year PinkNews.co.uk was named Publication of the Year.Stonewall's second annual awards ceremony will be held on November 1st at the Victoria Albert Museum in London.

10:54 AM — Larry Wachowski, one half of the writing-directing duo known as 'The Wachowski Brothers', is rumoured to have taken on a new name: Lana.According to Rated-M.com, Wachowski, who wrote and produced 2005's V for Vendetta and worked with brother Andy to write, direct and produce the 1999 blockbuster The Matrix and its sequels, began hormone treatment more than three years ago and "the major aspects of the surgery have been complete for some time."The duo will now be known as 'The Wachowskis', the site reports.
