Lady Gaga honoured with GLAAD award
5:48 PM — Lady Gaga was given the award for Outstanding Music Artist at Saturday's GLAAD awards in San Francisco. The yearly awards celebrate equality campaigning for LGBT rights and are hosted by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

5:12 PM — An estimated three million people joined Sao Paolo Pride yesterday in the world's biggest celebration of gay culture. Marchers through South America's biggest city came together to dance in the street, condemn homophobia and demand equal rights.

4:41 PM — Anna Paquin, the Hollywood actress, has said she was bemused at the fuss around her coming out as bisexual. The X Men and True Blood star filmed an advertisement in April for gay charity The True Colors Fund. In it, she says: "I'm bisexual and I give a damn."
EM Forster ‘stopped writing because he had gay sex’ 21
4:18 PM — The novelist EM Forster stopped writing in his forties because having gay sex killed his creative drive, a scholar claims. The author of works such as A Room With A View and Howards End stopped writing in 1924, after he published A Passage To India. He lived until 1970.

2:30 PM — Gay singer Elton John reportedly earned $1 million for singing at the wedding of US gay marriage opponent Rush Limbaugh at the weekend. The conservative commentator, 59, is against gay marriage and has been accused of homophobia and racism.
Emmerdale ranked best soap for dealing with gay characters 5
10:41 AM — Emmerdale has been ranked top of the main three soaps for its depiction of gays and lesbians. Gay charity Stonewall polled more than 1,000 supporters on the issue. Forty-four per cent said Emmerdale was the best, while EastEnders came second on 43 per cent. Coronation Street came last with 13 per cent of the vote.

2:15 PM — High school comedy Glee will gain a Christian character next season who disapproves of homosexuality. Glee writer Ryan Murphy said he wrote in the female character to rebalance "jabs" made at America's right-wing.

5:24 PM — Golden Girls actress Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76, her manager confirmed this afternoon. The star, who played Blanche Devereaux in the 1980s sitcom, had a massive stroke at 1am on Thursday morning.

11:00 AM — Jane Lynch has married her partner Lara Embry in a ceremony in Massachusetts. The actress, who plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in Glee, tied the knot with Embry in front of 18 of their friends and family on Monday.

4:37 PM — Madonna has thanked her fans for supporting her call for Malawi to release a couple jailed for homosexuality offences. Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga were pardoned by Malawian president Bingu wa Mutharika last week after being sentenced to 14 years of hard labour.

London Borough of Camden has new gay mayor and mayoress 8
2:52 PM — Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Camden borough's first openly gay mayor, was last night confirmed in his role at a ceremony in Camden Town Hall. In his new position, Councillor Simpson pledged to retain the "rock 'n' roll" spirit of Camden, a major landmark on Britain's musical map.
