Hampshire police chief constable to march in Brighton Pride 7

New mayor of Doncaster cuts funding for Pride 51
12:58 PM — The newly-elected mayor of Doncaster has vowed to cut funding for the town's annual gay Pride event. Peter Davies, an English Democrat, has said: "My policy on gays and lesbians is very simple. I don't think councils should be spending money on them parading through town advertising their sexuality."

4:34 PM — A long running battle to unblock educational gay websites from schools in Knox County, Tennessee may be over. Following the start of legal proceedings, the County Superintendent has said web filters would be adjusted.

12:15 PM — The Lithuanian Parliament is set to introduce a law to prohibit the discussion of homosexuality in schools. It is similar to the notorious Section 28 law in Britain that for years hampered the ability to teachers to discuss sexuality or help gay students. Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell has told PinkNews.co.uk that if passed, the country should have no right to remain in the EU.

11:36 AM — Human rights campaigner and Green Party Parliamentary candidate Peter Tatchell, has won Campaigner of the Year at the fourth Observer Ethical Awards in London last night. In his acceptance speech, Mr Tatchell paid tribute to "the many human rights campaigners worldwide who risk their lives and freedom, in countries like Russia, Iran, Zimbabwe, Iraq and China. It is an honour to work with and support them."

But at the same time a Republican Senator will propose a constitutional ban on gay marriage saying it could lead to polygamy.

9:49 AM — The Scottish Parliament yesterday passed legislation that seeks to ban hate crime against lesbian, gay bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people. The vote follows the adoption of similar legislation in England and Wales.
