Study explodes gay affluence myth 3
2:39 PM — A study of lesbian, gay and bisexual couples in America has suggested that they are as likely, or more likely, to be living in poverty as straight couples. It found that 24 per cent of lesbians and bisexual women are poor, while 19 per cent of heterosexual women experience poverty. Around 15 per cent of gay and bisexual men are living in poverty, compared to 13 percent of heterosexual males.

2:00 PM — A court has heard that a man accused of killing his ex-boyfriend by setting him on fire had tried to have him beaten up before. Nadim Kurrimbukus, 24, denies charges of arson and murder relating to the death of Charlie Davies, a 23-year-old Tesco worker.

11:58 AM — The killer of gay Liverpool teenager Michael Causer has been sentenced to life imprisonment. James O'Connor, 20, must serve at least 11 and a half years before he can be considered for parole.
Gay video designer sues Microsoft over ‘homophobic’ taunts 10
11:23 AM — A video designer is suing Microsoft after alleging homophobic abuse. Jamie Durrant, 38, is suing the corporation for £45,000 for 'hurt feelings' and lost pay. According to the designer, he was called "fag boy Jim" by colleagues, who sent mocking emails making fun of his sexuality.

New Hampshire introduces bill to protect trans people 1
5:51 PM — The US state of New Hampshire is introducing a bill to protect trans people from discrimination. The bill means the words "gender identity" or "gender expression" will be added to current laws protecting from discrimination on the basis of sex, age, race, creed, colour, sexual orientation or religion.

2:07 PM — A gay couple are suing after a Christian-run hotel in Cornwall barred them from staying in a room together. Martin Hall and Steven Paddy, who are civil partners, have launched a county court claim seeking up to £5,000 in damages alleging "direct discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation".

11:16 AM — Gay actor Christopher Biggins has criticised legislation which will criminalise language which could offend gays and lesbians, saying that gays and lesbians cannot be treated as normal if "special treatment" protects them from everyday humour.

4:10 PM — A Vermont senate committee has unanimously approved a bill to allow gay marriage in the state. The news comes after a week of hearings on the issue, including a public debate on Wednesday.

2:44 PM — A district judge has ordered the names of a gay couple who adopted a child born in Louisiana to be added to the birth certificate. Oren Adar and Mickey Ray Smith, who now live in San Diego, adopted the boy in New York, a state which allows gay couples to list both their names on the birth certificate.

1:56 PM — Corona del Mar high school has been accused of failing to protect a female student who was targeted with gay slurs and threatened with rape and murder.

10:40 AM — Preachers from the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church have said they plan to picket a London primary school which ran lessons about gay relationships. A picket schedule on their website announces they will be at the George Tomlinson School in Leytonstone next Friday.

Gay man de-baptises himself 69
5:44 PM — A man has asked to be 'de-baptised', saying that he was too young to decide his religion at the age of five months. John Hunt, 56, says that he wants his 1953 baptism at the St Jude and St Aidan parish church in the Southwark diocese, south London, cancelled because he was not consulted and does not believe in God.
