Gay rights hero Peter Tatchell named Campaigner of the Year 54
11:36 AM — Human rights campaigner and Green Party Parliamentary candidate Peter Tatchell, has won Campaigner of the Year at the fourth Observer Ethical Awards in London last night. In his acceptance speech, Mr Tatchell paid tribute to "the many human rights campaigners worldwide who risk their lives and freedom, in countries like Russia, Iran, Zimbabwe, Iraq and China. It is an honour to work with and support them."
Gay marriage law to be debated in Pennsylvania Senate 1
11:03 AM — Yesterday as the Governor of New Hampshire made gay marriage legal, a Pennsylvania Democrat Senator has introduced the state's first bill to legalise gay marriage. But at the same time a Republican Senator will propose a constitutional ban on gay marriage saying it could lead to polygamy.
Scottish Parliament passes anti-gay hate laws 7
9:49 AM — The Scottish Parliament yesterday passed legislation that seeks to ban hate crime against lesbian, gay bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people. The vote follows the adoption of similar legislation in England and Wales.

Trans group boycotts London Pride march 125
4:45 PM — TransLondon, the largest group in the capital for all trans-identified people, has announced it is boycotting London Pride. The decision comes after trans women were denied access to female toilets at last year's Pride and one was allegedly sexually assaulted.

5:07 PM — Despite threats to bash and arrest the marchers, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell explains why he will still be attending this Saturday's Moscow Gay Pride parade. Authorities have said the parade is banned and threatened "tough measures" to those who try to march. In 2007, Mr Tatchell was arrested and assaulted during the parade.
