2:26 PM — The Australian state of Queensland is set to legalise civil unions. Premier Anna Bligh is to allow her MPs a free vote on the matter and has said she expects an "overwhelming" majority to vote in favour.

1:01 PM — A man has been arrested after two people were burned at a Leicester city centre gay pub. The incident happened at the Rainbow and Dove in Charles Street at around 12.40am this morning.

12:03 PM — Homophobic Twitter users have outraged others by mocking the death of Ayrshire gay man Stuart Walker. Mr Walker, 28, was found dead near an industrial estate early on Sunday morning. Police said he had suffered a "violent" and "sustained" attack.
Murdered gay barman ‘may have been sexually assaulted’ 89
10:23 AM — Police have said that a gay barman may have been sexually assaulted before he was murdered. Stuart Walker's body was found at 5am on Saturday near an industrial estate in Cunnock, Ayrshire.

4:20 PM — Zimbabwe's prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai has done a U-turn on gay rights and says he now wants them protected under the new constitution. Speaking to BBC News, he said gay rights were a "human right" that should be respected by Zimbabweans.

3:54 PM — Just under half of voters in Hawaii want gay marriage to be legalised, a poll says. Public Policy Polling foudn that 49 per cent back gay marriage, 40 per cent oppose it and 11 per cent are unsure.
SNP condemns gay blood ban 51
3:21 PM — The Scottish National Party has approved a motion condeming the blood donation ban on gay men. Delegates at the party's conference in Inverness backed a motion which said that new rules allowing gay men to donate blood if celibate for a year are not good enough.

1:54 PM — Lawmakers in Denmark are considering legalising gay marriage. Church minister Manu Sareen told the Jyllands-Posten newspaper that gay couples may be allowed to wed in the spring of 2012.

4:06 PM — Lawmakers in Nigeria hope to pass a bill which strengthens laws against homosexuality. The legislation seeks to criminalise same-sex marriage. Its sponsor, Senator Domingo Obende, claimed that gay marriage is "spreading" and must be stopped.
