London’s gay art festival GFEST announces programme 1
7:14 PM — London's gay art and culture festival GFEST has announced its programme for this year. The event will be held across venues in London between November 8th-21st and is now in its fourth year.
Lady Gaga to join gay rights protest 7
3:43 PM — Lady Gaga will join a protest in Maine against the ban on out gay soldiers in the US military. A spokesman from the Servicemembers Legal Defence Network said the bisexual singer would join LGBT veterans at the event today in Portland.
AA Gill nominated for Stonewall’s ‘Bigot of the Year’ award 24
2:12 PM — Sunday Times columnist AA Gill has been nominated for Stonewall's 'Bigot of the Year' award for offending lesbian TV presenter Clare Balding. Gill wrote in a July column that Balding was a "dyke on a bike, puffing up the nooks and crannies at the bottom end of the nation".

Missing Russian gay rights campaigner ‘in Minsk’ 4
8:28 PM — Nikolai Alekseev, the Russian gay rights campaigner who was arrested at an airport in Moscow yesterday, is believed to be in Minsk. Mr Alekseev, who is unpopular with Russian authorities for attempting to hold Pride marches, was arrested by border control police yesterday at Domodedovo airport after passing through passport control.

Lady Gaga ‘training’ to become a minister to perform gay marriages 9
8:51 AM — Popstar Lady GaGa is reportedly training to become an ordained minister in order to perform gay marriages for her LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) fans. According to British tabloid, the Daily Star, the bisexual singer has been spurred on by the continuing row over gay marriages in California.

7:00 PM — A study has found that one third of gay and bisexual men diagnosed with HIV show signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. Researchers were surprised to find that starting HIV medication was the strongest trigger for PTSD.

6,000 civil partnerships formed last year 14
10:52 AM — Figures show that 6,281 gay couples had civil partnerships in the UK in 2009, a fall of 12 per cent compared with 2008. According to the Office for National Statistics, 3,227 male and 3,054 female couples tied the knot last year.

11:49 AM — A teenage boy was killed in a shooting at a pride festival in south-east Brazil on Saturday. The teenager was killed at the Juiz de Fora Pride, which attracted nearly 70,000 people.

98 per cent of PinkNews.co.uk readers want full marriage equality 46
10:21 AM — A poll of almost 800 LGBT PinkNews.co.uk readers has found that the vast majority want equal marriage rights. The survey found that 98 per cent agreed that marriage laws should be gender-neutral, while just two per cent feel civil partnerships are adequate.

5:12 PM — Nathaniel Rothschild is suing the Daily Mail over a story which claimed he set up a meeting between Lord Mandelson and a Russian billionaire. The newspaper's story, published on May 22nd of this year, was titled "Mandelson, an oligarch and a £500m deal".

Lindsay Lohan begins jail sentence 1
6:19 PM — Lindsay Lohan began a prison term in Lynwood, California, today for violating the terms of a 2007 probation for a drink-driving offence. The bisexual actress was sentenced to 90 days in the Century Regional Detention Facility, although reports say she could be freed in just 14 days due to overcrowding and good behaviour.

2:59 PM — A man accused of killing a trans woman in November last year in Kentish Town, London, has gone on trial. Leon Fyle, 22, who is unemployed, strangled 29-year-old Destiny Lauren after visiting her for sex, a court heard.
