Brazilian gay group says 250 LGBT people killed in a year 8
5:23 PM — A Brazilian gay group claims that 250 LGBT people were killed in hate crimes in 2010. Grupo Gay da Bahia is part-way through compiling a report on the issue but says that the latest figures show that an LGBT person is being killed at a rate of one every day and a half.
Ruling expected on gay hotel ban 22
5:09 PM — A judge is expected to rule tomorrow (Tuesday) on whether a hotel can lawfully bar gay couples. Peter and Hazelmary Bull, who own the Chymorvah Private Hotel in Cornwall, are being sued for discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation by a gay couple.

4:07 PM — A gay couple are celebrating after becoming the first recognised civil partners in Ireland. Glenn Cunningham and Adriano Vilar had a civil partnership in Northern Ireland last year but are now recognised as a couple in Ireland due to new laws.

10:49 AM — A Christian 'conversion therapist' may be struck off this week after telling a gay undercover reporter that she could turn him straight. Lesley Pilkington, 60, told gay journalist Patrick Strudwick that his homosexuality was a "mental illness" and she could help him overcome it.

Woman accused of pretending to be a man to trick women into sex
4:11 PM — A Scottish woman has been accused of tricking two women into sex by pretending to be a man. Samantha Brooks, 26, of Perthshire, is said to have posed as a man called Lee Brooks for nine years and hidden her genitals by claiming she had testicular cancer.
NY teachers sue after being sacked for ‘naked lesbian romp’ 5
3:52 PM — Two female teachers sacked from a New York school after a janitor claimed to have seen them having sex are to sue. Alini Brito, 30, and Cindy Mauro, 34, were allegedly caught naked in a classroom last November while the rest of the James Madison High School in Brooklyn, new York, was watching a performance.
Jane Lynch says gay actors will never get the straight leading roles 49
2:42 PM — Glee star Jane Lynch says that while she does not think Hollywood is homophobic, gay actors will never get to play straight leads. The lesbian actress, who married her partner in 2010, told AfterElton.com that mainly straight audiences want to pin their "hopes and dreams" on straight actors.

11:04 AM — The Dire Straits song Money For Nothing has been banned from Canadian airwaves because it is deemed homophobic. The song, written almost 30 years ago, repeatedly uses the word 'faggot'.

4:27 PM — The first gay museum in America opened yesterday in San Francisco. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender History Museum occupies a 1,600ft space in the Castro district.

4:09 PM — A gay man who accused London's oldest gay pub of discrimination has also won his case for constructive dismissal.

Police chief of ‘America’s gayest city’ resigns after claims of homophobia 10
5:11 PM — The police chief of Palm Springs has resigned after targeting gay tourists in an undercover sex sting. David Dominguez was also recorded apparently using the word 'faggot' and one of his detectives used the word 'c*******er' about a suspect.
Ghanaian reggae star calls homosexuality a ‘disorder’ 141
4:30 PM — A Ghanaian reggae artist has been criticised after he called homosexuality a "disorder" in an interview. Blakk Rasta told GhanaMusic.com: "It is not the normal concept of life. Every man must sex a woman and not otherwise. Homosexuality is a mental/genetically disorder, in my opinion."
Arizona prevents anti-gay church picketing killed 9-year-old’s funeral 34
3:58 PM — The US state of Arizona has quickly pushed through legislation to ban the picketing of funerals. The Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church had planned to picket the funeral of a nine-year-old girl to gain publicity but now says it will not disrupt the event in exchange for air time on radio stations.
Gay and lesbian news archive moves to London 3
3:08 PM — The UK's only national independent LGBT news archive is moving to London. The Lesbian and Gay Newsmedia Archive (LAGNA) is currently housed at Middlesex University's Cat Hill campus but will move to the Bishopsgate Institute this month before the Cat Hill campus closes.
Stonewall names the Home Office as UK’s most gay-friendly employer 15
2:14 PM — Gay lobbying group Stonewall has named the Home Office as the best place for gay, lesbian and bisexual people to work in the UK. The group released its annual list of the 100 top employers today. Lloyds Banking Group and Ernst & Young were in second and third place respectively.
