16 February 2007Lesbian couple lose pub court case 1 A Hertfordshire landlady accused of excluding two lesbian police officers from her pub on homophobic grounds was cleared of a public order offence on Tuesday.Magistrates in St. Albans ruled that due to "significant inconsistencies" in the evidence given by prosecution witnesses, Nicola Hackett, 38, would not be prosecuted.Ms. Hackett told The Sun : "I'm over the moon. It has been very, very traumatic for me." -

9 February 2007Gay haters to picket kids’ funeral 1 Anti-gay activists from the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, plan to protest at the collective funeral of the victims of the Bardstown house fire that killed 10 people last week.The blaze, described as the deadliest in Kentucky in thirty years, killed six children, and left two others hospitalised. The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed.The controversial church appears at high-profile funerals in order to gain publicity for their cause, despite laws banning such demonstrations. -
9 February 2007Drug-resistant HIV strain worries doctors + A strain of HIV that is resistant to two types of treatment has been discovered in America.Four men in Washington state were diagnosed with strains of highly-resistant HIV (HR HIV) between 2005 and 2006.Researchers now say that these strains are very similar, indicating that the four men may have had sex or shared injection equipment with common partners. -
9 February 2007Pride photos part of London LGBT History Month 3 Southwark LGBT Network kicked off this year's History Month with a free photographic exhibition, depicting 32 years of London Pride events, courtesy of lesbian photographer Pam Isherwood.The network, an offshoot of the Southwark Anti-Homophobic Forum, organised seven events for the first year of History Month and has been committed to the event ever since.The photography exhibition was organised by Dax Ashworth, LGBT community development worker at Southwark Council.
