Far right seeks to scuttle Defeat of State Department global women’s office
They are at it aginA: these so-called Christians who understadn God so well they can tell us what God wants us to do – which is always to live by the tenants of their religion.
Now self-proclaimed “leaders” of the “pro-life and pro-family” world (aka right wing nuts) are working to defeat legislation in the House that they calim would “empower the State Department to promote abortion and homosexuality in other countries.”
Horrors!
Where is the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) or these other “pro-life and pro-family” when it comes to providing American kids with food and good schools or effective healt care? Not on the front lline of fighting for these Biblic priorities – oh no! There’s no money to be reaised from “Conservative Christains” if you are talking about raising taxes to feed hungry children or prpvide poor famies with health care.
No matter that is what the Bible calls us to do time and time again.
These “leaders” know better than the Bible – better than the Bible – that God’s top priority is voting against a State Department authorization bill that would create an Office for Global Women’s Issues.
In part, they say the measure would push the State Department to pressure other countries to rescind laws restricting homosexual and transsexual actions, or at least that is the way they read the bill according to their latest fund raising effort.

Campell Soup is latest target of right wing gay haters
We kid you not: Campbell’s Soup is being hammered by Dobson’s brownshirts for advertising in The Advocate.
Froths one right-wing nut:
“The Campbell’s Soup Company purchased a pair of two-page advertisement spreads in one of the nation’s leading pro-homosexual magazines, including an ad highlighting a lesbian couple and their son, reports the American Family Association.
The advertisement for Campbell’s product Swanson’s broth, the AFA reports, appears in both the December 2008 and January 2009 issues of The Advocate, a magazine that touts itself with the line, “For 40 years, setting the standard in LGBT journalism.” “
What will Campbell’s do next? Sell its products to LQBT customers? Horrors!

Mormon Church Whines: “Prop 8 Backlash Is ‘An Outrage That Must Stop’” – but if the shoe fits ….
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is claiming “violence and intimidation” have been toward the Church because of its support of Proposition 8.
Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles claimed “the right of free expression of people of faith has come under attack.”
It seems some Mormons think they should be exempt from criticism if they claim their acts are based on religion.
That would be fair if the Mormon Church focused on telling its members how to act.
When a church tries to legislative its religious views and turn them into laws that force others to abide by Mormon beliefs, then they loose the ability to claim their “right of free expression of people of faith has come under attack” when people object to their strong arm methods.
It is simple: the Mormon Church cant each and tell its members to do what their faith requires. But when the Mormon Church – or any other Church – tries to compel others to live by Religious standards, then that church is fair game in the rough and tumble world of politics.
Individuals who use politics to impose their religious beliefs on others can fairly be opposed, and that opposition can include boycotts, demonstration and the like. You can’t make money off the LGBT community, work to make the LGBT people second class citizens and then expect the LGBT community to continue to support your business.
Odd that Elder Ballard never complained when his Evalngelical allies lauinched boycots of companies that were “pro-gay.” I guess the “the right of free expression of people of faith” only comes under attack when you are a Mormon or a right wing nut.
