KRXQ Sacramento Radio Hosts Have History of Obscenity Involving Children: FCC Report

In the wake of the media and Internet which followed a call to action by the and Alliance Against Defamation () and coverage in The , which broke this story nationally, ten major American have pulled their accounts from Rob, Arnie &; in the Morning on KRXQ 98.55 in Sacramento.
For its part, the station has taken the May 28th down off the station’s public website and removed its list of advertisers and sponsors.
On the day in question, two of the show’s three hosts, Rob Williams and , spent approximately thirty minutes of the berating children as “idiots,” “freaks,” and “freaks of ,” who were “just out for attention.” They compared the children to “ kids on Maury” who just needed to be put in their places with and even if necessary. States said that if he had a male child who put on a pair of high heels, he would discipline him by striking the little boy with his own shoe.
“I’m going to go, ‘You know what? You’re a little idiot! You little dumbass!” he seethed, later addng, “I look forward to the day when [the children] go out into society and society beats them down. And they wind up in therapy.” If the -identified child “gets to eighteen,” States urged, throw them out of the house. “You say, ‘Get out! Go be a freak! And understand, SON, that society will never accept you because we will have some moral .”
Apparently a significant of also has “some moral ,” and, in this case, they decided that Rob, Arnie &; ’s in the Morning’s abusive against children, some as young as five, crossed the line.
As of this writing, at least ten national companies have withdrawn, cancelled, or decided not to renew their advertising contracts with KRXQ. They include Chipotle , the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, SONIC, , the Carl’s Jr. restaurant chain, , Nissan, AT&;T, and McDonalds. Citing the depravity of the content, for the various companies were united in their with KRXQ and Rob, Arnie, &; in the Morning.
A statement sent to from the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group read, “We found the to be offensive, and as a result we are pulling our Snapple advertising from the station.” The was echoed by SONIC, who asserted flatly that “SONIC in no way condones toward children and does not wish to be associated with media content that condones or promotes such activity in any way.” See KRXQ Sacramento Radio Hosts Have History of Obscenity Involving Children: FCC Report

Why It Matters that Adam Lambert is (Probably) Gay

It matters that Adam Lambert, the heir apparent as the next , is apparently gay — precisely because it doesn’t matter.

First, whether Lambert is or not, he definitely is “,” a word many GLBT (, , , and ) have reclaimed from the of history as a proud self-identification. He gender-bends, he sings high notes, he wears makeup and jewelry. For a show about creating the next typical star, he is atypical. Simply being is, perhaps, no big deal — but Lambert flaunts his gender non-conformity. As he himself said, when of Lambert other men surfaced on the Internet, “I have nothing to hide. I am who I am.” Bravo!

This stands in contrast to previous of androgynous stars, who vociferously denied their even as their obvious queerness was leveraged into worldwide . , , even all used to deny their — and Elton John hid behind “” for many years as well. To most of us in the community, this was ludicrous; at the same instant these were protesting the awful about their , they flaunted their gender-bending and/or as part of their appeal. Not Lambert. He is who he is, and it’s fabulous.
