KRXQ Sacramento Radio Hosts Have History of Obscenity Involving Children: FCC Report

In the wake of the media and Internet which followed a call to action by the and Alliance Against Defamation () and coverage in The , which broke this story nationally, ten major American have pulled their accounts from Rob, Arnie &; in the Morning on KRXQ 98.55 in Sacramento.

A statement sent to from the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group read, “We found the to be offensive, and as a result we are pulling our Snapple from the station.” The was echoed by SONIC, who asserted flatly that “SONIC in no way condones toward children and does not wish to be associated with media content that condones or promotes such activity in any way.” See KRXQ Sacramento Radio Hosts Have History of Obscenity Involving Children: FCC Report

They hugged! Lesbians expelled from high school

Back in my day, you had to wake up pretty early to get expelled from high school. You had to rise at the crack of and sell to the children of well-connected bankers and . You had to a mile in the snow to flip off a teacher (like, repeatedly). You had to make some kind of threat, like: I’m going to up this . I think maybe you could also get expelled for wearing shorts above the knee. Such are the baffling, inexplicable rules of high .

But even in my conservative Texas high school, you could not be expelled for being a . Far less for exhibiting “a bond of ” that was “characteristic of a ” — which, by the way, sounds like approximately 86 percent of female . But such was the , where two 16-year-old girls were expelled for “conducting themselves in a manner consistent with being .” An recently ruled that “the private was not a business and therefore did not have to comply with a state law that prohibits businesses from discriminating,” according to a story in today’s L.A. The Times story recounts the twisty tale that a teacher (tipped off by a student) to probe the terrifying waters of , where she found such incendiary evidence as the fact that one of the students identified as a . There was also a of the hugging. (Hugging?!?! Shouldn’t you get some kind of for that?) Seriously, the story is worth a read. At one point, the principal seems to be coming on to one girl. The tables keep turning. It’s like “Doubt” or something.

So, OK: It’s a that wants to uphold a certain . (The school is associated with the&; same as Rep. Michele Bachmann. ) Should they be allowed to discriminate based on their -based ethos? I’ll leave that for the courts to decide. (A for the girls hopes to take the case to the California .) But at a time when our school system is so embattled — fingers crossed, economic stimulus plan — and at an age when kids are discovering themselves and in the very place you might hope would be trying to sheperd them into an world, it’s just a damn that a school would spend its valuable resources on this kind of .

Finally a gay male character on Battlestar Galactica

This token gift from BSG for a character, which fans have been screaming for since the show’s beginning (nay, since the on sci-fi TV) is both refreshing and a bit annoying.
