The Wrong Women

No one should be surprised the Republicans selected (and many of them still seem bafflingly smitten with) Gov. Sarah Palin someone who Gloria Steinem magnificently called “The Wrong Woman.” Conspiracy theories aside, it is clear to me that while the Republicans pick women, they seem to pick the wrong women. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, although she fell just short of the nomination, picked up 18 million Democratic primary votes; the Speaker of the House is Nancy Pelosi; and California has two powerful female Senators and they are not alone.
