Fall Out Boy has donated $50,000 to efforts to defeat California’s Proposition Eight, which is appearing on the state’s ballots this coming Election Day (November 4th) and aims to overturn California’s legalization of gay marriage. The band said in a simple statement, “We believe government shouldn’t legislate love. Vote no on Proposition Eight.” The issue has become a fierce one in California, with ads both supporting and denouncing the proposition running on the state’s airwaves.
Fall Out Boy and bassist Pete Wentz have spoken out frequently against homophobia, racism and other civil rights issues.
In other news, the band has revealed the full track list to its upcoming album, Folie a Deux, due out on November 4th. While some of the song titles are uncharacteristically short, the CD does include such typically clever Fall Out Boy names like “Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet,” “The (Shipped) Gold Standard” and “(Coffee’s for Closers).”
