Ellen DeGeneres Donates $100,000 to Defeat Prop 8

Daytime TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is laying out $100,000 of her own cash to fight California’s Prop 8 initiative to once again deny equal marriage rights to gay couples in the state. DeGeneres legally wed partner Portia de Rossi shortly after the California Supreme Court lifted the ban on same-sex marriage earlier this year. Ellen’s hefty donation will help purchase TV time to air a public service announcement filmed for the ‘No on 8’ campaign.
