When I was a teen and beginning to question my sexuality it was hard to come to terms with the fact that I had crushes on the boys around me rather than the girls. I remember asking myself, ‘why do I keep running from the truth?’
Interesting then, that the video for David Archuleta’s new single Crush tracks Archuleta’s attention on the boys almost as often as the girls. Others have noticed as well. And if Archuleta is playing to a bigger audience than the female teen/tween crowd, kudos to him.

Good Grief! Quit trying to make something out of nothing. Yeah, I’m sure that is what he had in mind. He didn’t write the song, nor did he write the story. That video is as innocent as they come.
I don’t care a flip about Archuleta’s sexual preference – that’s totally his business. Why does the media and some fans put all this wasted energy into trying to put him in one slot or the other? Can’t we just appreciate and enjoy him for what we know he is… an extraordinarily talented 17 year old who is on the precipice of stardom… I enjoy him as a musical talent and as an artist… if the quality of his future musical output lives up to what I seen throughout his Idol journey, while performing live on tour, and in the release of CRUSH, I will gladly buy and support it. The is he or isn’t he is a moot point for me – and for many who enjoy the music.
This young man has the goods – he is a superior vocalist, has tons of natural charisma, and great musicianship. David commands your eye in this video, and your attention in every frame. In addition, he is that increasingly rare artist who delivers live. He’s on his way to great success, and his debut album in November will be on my must have’s for the fall.
