From Victim to Scapegoat: The Tragedy of Lawrence King

I’m scared. For the first time in thirteen years as a parent, I am actually scared. What is the world coming to when a hate crime victim such as Lawrence King becomes the object of blame for ending up getting shot in the head? My oldest son is not a tough guy. He’s sweet. He loves music, and can lip synch with the best of them. What do I say to him now? He should feel free to express himself? When society may one day blame him for being the victim of someone else’s hate?
