I'm writing to inquire as to why you do not provide a PRINT function on your website so that I might save an article in print/pdf form. It's difficult to cite your site's articles/authors in a work of research, or to make note of an article (or quote from an article). Nearly EVERY news site offers such a function, including your competitors in the LGBT news community. Yet you do not. Why not? I'm considering terminating my use of your site as, without this function, it's of little use beyond merely informing me. I can acquire the information elsewhere, AND PRINT IT. Please explain. If it's merely your webmaster's failure to implement this function, then he/she should be replaced with someone with greater sensitivity to the market's needs. But, if it's a policy decision, I'd like to know your rationale. Thank you in advance.

On Sexual Diversity and Sexual Minority Rights in the Arab Societies – in context of the EURO-MED

Seminar in Stockholm, Sweden

During Stockholm Pride 2009

BRIEF:
In the Arabic societies and communities sexual diversity is taboo. In most countries gay and lesbians rights are banned. But how are the Arab societies dealing with it? What is the situation for the young people like? How do Arab gay and lesbian define their situation in the Arab countries and how do Arabs in Europe define their identity and situation? Do they have any idea on how to improve the situation? Is there a need to raise the situation for Arab gay and lesbian and LGBT-rights? Are there any demands of any cultural activities and network? Is it possible to have a positive Arab identity and be gay? What is the perception of Arab culture and what is the perception of Arab gays?

ACTION:
To gather organizations working with/or targeting human rights, sexual diversity focusing on Arab gay and lesbian to discuss what is the Arab identity, sexual minority rights and what can be done? The idea is to share knowledge and experiences and to make future projects in context of EURO-MED EU Youth in Action Program.

OBJECTIVES & GOALS:
• To discuss sexual minority youth and gender issues in the Arabic societies
• To discuss identity, sexual diversity and what it is like to be Arab and gay
• To share knowledge about legislation, benchmarks and experience available on sexual minority rights and gender equality in the Arab countries in the context of the EURO-MED cooperation and what can be done within the Youth in Action Program.
• To discuss how to eliminate discrimination, exclusion and intolerance on the basis of sexual orientation
• To promote tolerance, human rights, solidarity and anti-discrimination in the society
• Create new partnerships on how to work with equality among gender and sexual orientation
• To promote the implementation of youth projects in Middle East within the EU-Youth in Action program about sexual diversity
• Take part and contribute in the Pride festival in Stockholm which will be held during the week of the seminar
• Participate and arrange an Arab and Middle Eastern intercultural night during Stockholm Pride open for the public to participate.

This call is open for NGO: s from all EU countries and Arab countries of the Middle terrain sea countries. The call address organizations including or attempt to include HBT-issues in their work. European organizations that focus on HBT-rights in the Middle East and North African region, or addressing HBT-youth with MENA-origin.

CONDITIONS:
As this seminar will be implemented in the frame of the EU Youth in Action Program, the accommodation and food supply for all participants will be covered totally. In addition, 70 % of the travel expenses will be reimbursed to the participants.

Stated visa costs will be reimbursed 100 % (save the recipe of payment)

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Please, send the filled correctly and signed Part III via email. You have to scan it and afterwards send it by e-mail AND via regular post to us. Bear in mind that the description of your organization is the selection criteria for your participation.

On the part III, section C. Note you have to repeat the name of your organization, and have the title of the project: Go beyond and see the Beauty.

Within the e-mail you also send us part IV where you state your travel costs, the destination of departure and mean of transport.

The project coordinators will inform you about the selection process and keep you informed about the application process. Expected answer from applying National Agency is end of April 2009.
