An objectum sexual woman from Leeds, England, has announced that she got engaged to a chandelier she bought from eBay.

Amanda Liberty, who identifies as an animist and an Objectum Sexual, says she is attracted to the energy given off by objects and people.

An Objectum Sexual is someone who is attracted to inanimate objects.

She says she was previously in a relationship with the Statue of Liberty, and later collected chandeliers that she was attracted to.

But all the other chandeliers paled in comparison to one, named Lumier, to which she says she got engaged last Valentines Day.

The 33-year-old said she was “excited” as she had never been engaged before.

There is a 57 year age difference between Liberty and Lumiere, and she doesn’t always take her to bed with her to “kiss and cuddle”.

But she does still have what she calls an open relationship with her other chandeliers, but insists that they never get jealous.

Liberty found Lumiere on eBay and spent over £400 to ship her from Europe to Leeds.

Her friend named her Lumiere after the character from Beauty and the Beast who comes to life.

She says: “As soon as I saw Lumiere on eBay, I knew immediately that she was the one for me and it was love at first sight.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about her and how beautiful she was – she has such a beautiful shape, and I could feel really amazing energy coming from her.”

Of waiting for Lumiere to arrive, Liberty says: “She had been disassembled for her own safety, but once I put all her pieces together and she settled in to her new home, our relationship just went from strength to strength.”

She engaged with Followers in a lengthy Facebook post during which she discusses animism and its prevalence in other cultures.

Liberty writes that she was bullied at school and had to have a full time chaperone, she puts it down partly to playing the drums.

She also says her first boyfriend was a drum kit.

Going on, she writes: “I have always been an animist. (Google search. Animism) and as such I believe that all things around us, including objects, have energy. They have a soul. A personality. And just some people can connect. I can’t connect with many objects but it doesn’t mean those ones don’t have energy.”

Adding: “In Japan and some more Eastern countries Animism is much more accepted amongst the community.”

She continues: “People have had to fight to try and get acceptance for the way they naturally are. 25 years ago even being gay or lesbian was far less accepted than it is now because it was just another thing that wasn’t talked about and you weren’t supposed to do. Even now it is a struggle for some people to find acceptance for loving a person of the same gender as themselves.

“Go back to the 1960s and it was abhorrent to have sex before being married and ladies who got pregnant were sent to homes to have their babies and then be forced to give them up for adoption. Absolutely terrible and disgusting what those poor women had to live through all because it was not socially acceptable to have children outside of wedlock.”

And Liberty ends with: “The very description of normality is what you have been taught by those who brought you up, and what your friends or people around you do.

“Go between one country and another and the idea of normality changes. Normality is only the things you know in life. How you function in the world immediately around you, It is not the things that you don’t know.”

Liberty previously appeared in a documentary about animism.
