Anna Richardson ‘considering adoption’ with Sue Perkins

TV star Anna Richardson has said she is “considering adoption” with her partner, fellow TV host Sue Perkins.

Appearing on Loose Women, Richardson said she and Perkins were thinking about starting “our own little family”.

The Naked Attraction host said: “I’m sad actually careering into 50, I am sad that I’ve not had my babies so I’m considering, I can’t say for Sue but I’m considering looking at adoption and trying to just create our own little family I think, it’s important to me.”

As well as talking about wanting to start a family with Perkins, Richardson described being diagnosed with PTSD.

She said: “I remember I was on the first floor and I opened the balcony door slightly as it was very very hot, the south of France, stripped off because it was boiling, went to bed lay there spreadeagled.”

Her mother’s breakdown also led her to start the website Mind Box, which lets users connect with mental health professionals after subscribing.

Richardson previously said that it feels “completely natural” to be with a woman, but also that it can be “far more intense” than dating men.

Speaking to Diva magazine, the ‘Secret Eaters’ star also opened up about her relationship with Bake Off star Sue Perkins.

The couple first revealed that they are together last January, with Richardson saying they have an “extraordinary connection”.

About those who laughed at their relationship when they first got together she said: “I found that offensive and I put them bloody straight.”

“The sexual adjustment is easy,” she went on, of being with a woman after an 18-year relationship with a man.

“The emotional adjustment is something else,” she added. “As you know, a relationship with a woman is far more intense.

“This I have learnt. It’s an emotional tsunami.”

The 45-year-old graces the cover of Diva alongside the caption “being with a woman feels completely natural”.

Of being more open to relationships with women, after dating men, she said: “Do I think it takes a certain type of person to go, f**k it, I’m going to give it a go, regardless of what other people may think about it? Yes I do.

“I feel extremely comfortable in the company of women.”

But she did say some of her female friends have showed curiosity about going to bed with a woman, saying: “People become obsessed with sex and just want to know, ‘What is it you do in bed?’ But it’s not about that, it’s about the person and it’s about the connection with that person.”

The 45-year-old noted “hysteria” when they are out and about, given the huge success of shows like the Great British Bake Off, adding that it can be “tricky”. But she said, when they are at home: “We’re just two middle-aged girls toshing about the flat.”

Of her parents’ acceptance of her relationship with Sue Perkins, she said she was worried at first.

“My Dad’s a vicar, my Mum’s an RE teacher so you would think ‘this isn’t going to go down very well’ but actually they were really, really open to the whole thing and they can see that I’m happy,” she said.

Richardson, before getting together with Perkins, was in an 18-year relationship with Charles Martin, a film director. Their relationship ended in 2014, and she said it was because “he was away all the time”.
