Anti-gay marriage rally wrecked by lesbian kiss

Australia’s Coalition for Marriage (CFM) held an anti-same sex marriage rally over the weekend – and it was wonderfully interrupted by two queer people storming the stage to share a kiss.

A national ballot is currently being carried out in Australia, which will decide whether or not the country allows same-sex couples to get married.

The results of the ballot, which are expected on November 15, are not legally binding.

However, this has not stopped both sides from tirelessly campaigning to get their voices heard.

The ‘Vote No’ rally was launched in Melbourne by the CFM, but it wasn’t long before two female protesters invaded the stage and kissed in front of the anti-LGBT+ crowd.

It was reported in The Australian that the protesters were interrupting a speech made by controversial speaker Cella White.

White has placed herself at the forefront of CFM’s anti-gay campaign adverts, and has spoken about the alleged abuse she has received since joining the group.

It was said that the couple who ran onto the stage shouted “fascists” into the microphone, before being dragged off-stage amidst heckling from the audience.

Further protests during the launch saw a different couple hold up a banner that read: “Burn Churches, Not Queers.”

The two were, again, removed from the building.

The weekend saw an increase in campaigning for both sides, with protests from both ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ voters carried out in the heart of Sydney’s gay district.

Many people took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the CFM launch and the upcoming vote.

Thankfully, people are still openly fighting against the ‘No’ vote.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has come under fire again over the weekend for another postal vote fail during their management of the same-sex marriage survey.

A number of residents in Canberra have received surveys through their letterbox that are not addressed to them, but to the property’s former homeowners who have since died.

“Got our postal survey, including one for the former of the house .. .who died eight years ago,” said Canberra resident Catherine Bleasley on Facebook.
