Victoria Beckham has said the Spice Girls looked like “five men in drag” at the height of their fame.

In an interview with department store Selfridges, the fashion designer formerly known as Posh Spice laughed about the band’s makeup choices.

Asked about her own appearance during the late 90s, she said: “Do I cringe? A little.

“But I think it’s great to experiment.”

And when Victoria was questioned about her favourite Spice Girls look, she laid into decisions made by the most successful girl band of all time.

“When I was pregnant with Brooklyn and still in the Spice Girls we did a video called Goodbye,” she said.

“I had really short hair. That was quite nice – natural makeup.

“But there’s one that was the most hideous … we went to the American Music Awards and we looked like five men in drag,” added Posh Spice.

“We had so much makeup on, it was unbelievable.

“I look back at the pictures and I’m like: ‘Woah! That was a lot of makeup.’

“I mean, we took the layering of make-up to a whole new level.”

Earlier this year, Geri Horner finally apologised for leaving the Spice Girls.

It was 19 years ago when she turned her back on the band.

The Spice Girls were midway through their world tour when the news broke, throwing everyone into a state of confusion.

In response to a fan account which pointed out it was the anniversary of this heartbreaking event, Geri tweeted: “I’m sorry about that … , everything works out in the end , that’s what my mum says! X”

In June, Geri performed her first single for 12 years, dedicating it to her late friend George Michael.
