Transformations are an incredible thing, especially when you see the transformation that some actors make to become your favourite character.

When it comes to actually having a favourite character, Orange is The New Black has one of the biggest varieties of badass babes that you can pick from.

From Lea Delaria (Big Boo) who is a long-time champion for LGBT rights to Samira Wiley (Poussey Washington) who recently tied the knot with Lauren Morelli, a writer on the show.

One of our favourite characters across the whole five seasons has been there to deliver some witty remarks throughout: meth head Angie.

From inventing ‘Edward pizza hands’ to more recently launching a talent show for the guards in season five, meth head Angie is a staple character that knows how to cause trouble in Litchfield.

Her most distinctive features by far are the yellow teeth and greasy hair, but the actor Julie Lake is far from meth addiction that Angie embraces.

Speaking to toofab, Lake explained the process she goes through from looking fresh faced and beautiful to drug addled and rough.

“The teeth are really fast. They have a palate of colours that’s like tobacco stain, nicotine, coffee, dark greens, yellows and browns, it’s disgusting.”

The most shocking thing is that Lake’s transformation barely takes any time at all.

“I wish I could say it takes three hours to make me look hideous, but it’s probably like the make-up alone is two minutes and the hair is two.”

The character and how she really looks is so drastically different that Lake never gets recognised.

The actor also roped her husband into appearing on the show after she had a make out scene.

In a scene from the show Angie needed to be kissed by a character who would pass narcotics to her.

“When they were casting that part, they were like, ‘Do you have a friend you want to make out with? We don’t want to give you a random extra in case you’re uncomfortable.’

“I brought my husband, so now he’s in the show and he created a whole character for himself, he calls himself Bison, he hopes they’ll bring him back.”
