The mother of Manchester bombing victim Martyn Hett has got a heartbreakingly sweet tattoo as a lasting tribute to her son.

Martyn, 29, was confirmed dead by loved ones two days after the terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena.

Speaking in the days after his death, his mum Figen Murray said: “When I think of Martyn, all I can think of is smiling, because I have just so many fond and really funny memories”.

Family, friends and thousands of others paid tribute to Martyn, calling him a “wonderful, iconic and beautiful” person who “fitted an entire lifetime of memories into his 29 years.”

And now, Murray has joined countless others – including Ariana Grande, reportedly – in getting a bee tattoo following the attack.

The bee is a symbol of Manchester, and tattoos have helped to fund the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

Murray’s, though, has an important twist, with #BEMOREMARTYN emblazoned below the bee, which also has a heart in it.

Dan Hett, Murray’s son and Martyn’s brother, posted a picture of the tattoo on Twitter, with the caption: “my mum does not f*** about. #bemoremartyn indeed.”

Murray, a mental health counsellor, told the Evening Standard: “I hate tattoos, but I am from now on definitely going to be more Martyn.”

Her husband Stuart, speaking in the week after Martyn’s death, said that he had “only just realised how many people thought so highly of him – how many lives he touched.

“It’s just simply staggering what I’m hearing – the messages from people who have met him in the past – so to have achieved all that in a short space of time…

“I would love to die with all that love behind me,” he continued.

“I think most of us will never be able to achieve that, so to have achieved it is all you’d want in life – because material things…you can’t take it with you, but all that love you leave behind is priceless.”

Mariah Carey also paid tribute to Martyn, after finding out that he was a huge fan of hers.

She wrote on Instagram: “RIP Martyn Hett. We will cherish your memory forever.

“His family and all the families affected are in my thoughts and prayers. MC ?❤”
