Actress Nicole Kidman says people should get behind Donald Trump as president.

The Oscar winner said that Americans should support the next POTUS now he’s won the election.

The 49-year-old got a vote in the US election as a US citizen, as well as a vote in her native Australia’s elections.

But unlike most stars Kidman has never revealed who she voted for.

The actress refused to say which candidate she was voting for in the presidential election, saying she prefers to stay out of giving her opinions on politics.

“He’s now elected and we as a country need to support whoever is the president,” she said on The Victoria Derbyshire Show.

“That is what the country is based on.

“And however that happened, it happened, and let’s go.”

The star did however say her politics was “issue based” and resolutely defended same-sex marriage for her home country of Australia.

“I believe in it,” she said.

“I believe in allowing people who love each other to share their lives together and honour it.”

“I really believe we should stay out of people’s businesses like that.

“I love when people love each other and want that to be acknowledged legally because that’s protection as well as well as saying you are committed and commitment is a wonderful thing.”

A bill to take same-sex marriage to a public vote in Australia was shot down in the country’s Senate, leaving the future of the law in doubt.

The likes of Kylie and Sia have already backed a change in the law for equality.
