December 2 marks three years since Tom Daley shared with us all that he’s dating a man.

At the time we didn’t know who the lucky man was, and there was much speculation about Daley’s sexual orientation.

The diver said he still liked women, until clarifying later that he’s definitely gay, and not bisexual.

His coming out video made news the world over, as he became a role model for young LGBT people.

“In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great”, he said.

“That someone is a guy.”

Daley said: “It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in my head that something like that could happen.

“But it wasn’t until spring this year that things just clicked. It felt right and I thought ‘Okay’.

“And my whole world changed there and then.”

He added: “Of course I still fancy girls but right now I’m dating a guy and I couldn’t be happier.”

It was later revealed the diver is dating Oscar winning filmmaker Dustin Lance Black, and the pair have been loved up ever since.

Dustin and Daley are now set to get wed after more than three years together.

The announcement was made in the births, marriages and deaths section, read: “The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”

The star has received mainly positive responses since coming out and sharing his same-sex relationship with the world.

But some on Twitter took to homophobia at the 2016 Olympics when he failed to get the gold medal he was going for.

JK Rowling brilliantly put the trolls down, defending Daley from their bigoted tweets.
