Scream actress Bella Thorne has claimed that after she came out as bisexual, movie studios complained about her public “image”.

19-year-old Thorne is making a breakthrough in Hollywood following her roles in Disney TV series Shake It Up and MTV horror series Scream.

She quietly came out as bi in August on Twitter.

At the time she wrote: “Aww thank you for all the accepting tweets from everyone. I love you guys.”

However, it turns out movie studios aren’t as thrilled to have a teen star come out.

In an interview with Maxim, she said of being out: “It is hard in this business for us. It really is.

“I have already had people talk s**t to me. And it comes from people in the industry, not even fans.

“I’ve had studios tell me my image is too ‘out there’, hinting at it but not really saying it.”

She added of her open approach: “People tell me all the time about my social media and my Snapchat, but I’m not going to change myself for this business, and I’m not going to change myself for anyone else.”

Of coming out, she said: “I didn’t even think about it. A fan on Twitter asked me, and I’m super open about it. So I just said, ‘Yeah!’.”
