A study on the pornographic habits of LGB and straight men has produced some surprising results.

The study – published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour – challenges the idea that straight men only watch straight porn, whilst exploring the sexual preferences of gay and straight porn users.

The amount of straight men watching gay porn may shock you

Researchers asked 821 men about their porn habits, with 21% of straight men saying they had watched same-sex porn in the previous six months and 55% of gay reporting they had viewed straight porn in the same time frame.

Meanwhile, bisexual men, reported watching gay porn at a rate of 96%, compared to 88.3% who watch straight porn.

Although the amount of straight men watching gay porn may seem shocking to some, lead researcher Martin J. Downing, PhD, says he and his team were not surprised.

“Sexual attractions and behaviours are more than just identity,” he told Cosmopolitan.com.

Downing also said that the same logic applies to those gay men who watch straight porn.

“Research has shown that some gay men are attracted to or find heterosexual and masculine men more attractive,” he added.

Downing said that his research also revealed that it is also common for men who identify as heterosexual to be attracted to or even haver sex with other men.

Researches also found that while the majority of gay men prefer bareback porn, some do not care either way.

64.4% of gay men viewing anal sex preferred it condomless, 29.2% didn’t care, and 6.4% preferred condoms.

By comparison, of the gay men viewing vaginal sex, 50.5% preferred it without a condom, 45.1% did not care, and 4.3% wanted to see protection used.

Earlier this month, Pornhub revealed what gay guys are actually searching for online – and it turned out that the overwhelming winner was straight guys.
