Failed Republican Presidential hopeful Ben Carson has claimed that same-sex marriage will lead to “mass killings” in a world where it’s “every man for himself”.
Dr Carson, who dropped out of the Republican race earlier this year and rallied round Donald Trump, made the shocking comments at an event in Springfield, Missouri.
In a speech to the the Pensmore National Symposium on Religious Liberty, the former neurosurgeon warned that conservatives must stand against the “ever-growing government” on issues like gay marriage.
According to the Springfield News Leader, he warned that otherwise “there will be mass killings once again”, warning: “The peace that we experience now will be a memory only. This is the nation that stands between peace and utter chaos.”
Carson told reports “the whole gay marriage issue” could bring about the grim future.
He said: “Why must they change it?
“I believe the reason is, if you can change the word of God in one area, then you can change it in every area. It’s the camel’s nose under the tent, and it will just be an avalanche of one thing after the other.”
“We won’t have anything that we can use as our reference point because we will have thrown out God’s word.
“It’ll be every man for himself, every man deciding for himself what is right and what is wrong, and that can’t possibly lead to a good place.”
The Republican previously insisted that same-sex marriage is a Marxist plot from the New World Order, claiming in a speech to a listed anti-gay group that gay weddings are part of a plan “to destroy unity [and] bring America down.”
Carson has repeatedly been forced to apologise when caught making overtly homophobic comments – apologising after he was caught comparing gay people to paedophiles, and again apologising after he was caught claiming that prisons ‘prove’ being gay is a choice.
His repeated humiliations have not dissuaded him, however – last October he compared gay couples to conjoined twins.
