Reporter Jennifer Lin has spoken out about the the barrage of abuse she received from Donald Trump.
In 1988 Lin was working for the Philadelphia Inquirer and had published an article about Trump’s Atlantic City business dealings.
She was working in the wall street offices when she received a phone call. A woman on the end of the line said “hold for Tump.”. When she was connected Trump immediately jumped down Lin’s throat and unloaded abuse onto her about the article.
“Mr. Trump began to yell at me,” Lin said in an interview with Michael Smerconish. “He told me I had shit for brains. He told me I worked for a shitty newspaper and he said, ‘What sort of shit are you writing?'”
Lin said that Trump abruptly hung up on her and proceeded to phone Lin’s boss, and call her a c*nt.
Lin’s former boss offered to make any corrections to the story that Trump was unhappy with. When he asked the republican nominee what he didn’t like about the article, Trump said he had not read it.
Meaning that outpour of rage was all over a headline.
When asked why she decided just now to come out with her story, Lin said that seeing other women being abused by Trump made her want to share her story. “We were horrified by the things trump has said about women,” she said.
Trump responded to Lin’s allegations in a statement:
“This accusation is categorically false. I find it incredibly coincidental that this person’s crystal clear recollection of one sentence, one word, spoken nearly thirty years ago just happens to coincide with Mr. Trump’s surge in Pennsylvania. This is nothing more than an avowed liberal reporter who is trying to exploit Mr. Trump’s reputation as click-bait for her tabloid stories.”
